I meant to mention this the other day, but it kept slipping my mind... Did anyone happen to catch D ick Clark at the Emmys on Sunday night? I believe this was his first public/television appearance since he suffered his stroke two years ago. His speech was a bit slurred, and he appeared a bit worn out and weary, but overall, he looked pretty good. It took a lot of courage for him to get up there, in front of a live and national TV audience, but he did really well. It was really good to see him. I honestly don't think that any one man has done more for the advancement of pop culture as we know it over the past half-century (not to mention the mid-century popularity and emergence of the Wildwoods) than "America's oldest teenager." Best of luck to him in his continued recovery! msnbc.msn.com/id/14548386/

He did "New Years Eve" list past year, he looked ok, but did not sound that great. But very courageous nonetheless.

That's right, he did do the New Year's Rockin' Eve special last year. I totally forgot about that... I'm pretty sure he was only shown in limited segments, right? And he was sitting down behind a desk or something.
At any rate, I can't imagine how depressing this time must be for Mr. Clark. The man has spent almost literally his entire life on the radio or doing TV, and was always so tuned in, even when members of his generation were long since "out of the loop" in terms of what was "hip" and contemporary socially.
And then, all of a sudden, it was all taken away from him. It's a real shame, but he has reportedly been getting healthier.
Glad to hear that he'll be back again this year to do the New Year's special again.

Yeah, he looked great. It was the only part of the emmys that I watched. Hope he continues his recovery. Kirk Douglas had a similar stroke a few years ago and took a long time to recover, especially his speech. But today, he is even back to acting. I hope D*ck Clark can make the same great comeback. Sure wish there was a way to get him back in the Wildwoods one more time - at least, possibly for the Fabulous 50's show. Wouldn't that be really appropriate: D*ck Clark coming back to the scene of his greatest achievements. Thom

And that man relatively always looks the same; ever notice that? Can still hear him on American Bandstand,"And what would you rate this record?" Watched that show everytime it was on and even in black and white!

Oh yeah D*ck Clark looked OK but it was a real shame that he was slurring his words. Anyone know how old he is now??

Almost 77. He was born in November, 1929. He really was better than New Year's. The Emmys was live.....they pre-recorded his part of New Year's Rockin' Eve.
