Wow, the board has really been jumpin' as of late!
I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge this...
We just hit 30 total members, and are closing in on 100 topics and 1,000 total posts.
There were just a few of us about three short weeks ago, so its great to see how the board is growing.
Keep telling your friends, co-workers and/or anyone else who will listen about this place.
The more discussion we can generate (and the more new supporters we can rally), the better!

The DWPL needs to think of bigger and better ways to advertise itself as well, especially in the Wildwoods Chamber of Commerce books etc. If they could get a 1 page ad in there and the Hotel/Motel Association book about what they do etc. that would be great, but maybe they did, neither of mine came in the mail yet.

I agree, Doo Wopper.
In fact, I believe that the DWPL should look into ways to advertise itself as much as possible outside of Wildwood as well.
Get the word out throughout NJ, for starters.
Then Philly, New York, Baltimore... all up and down the east coast.
Even up in Quebec, where many longtime, diehard Wildwood vacationers reside.
The more people who know about the DWPL, the better.

Well, I'm sure people from the DWPL are monitoring these boards frequently.
To contact them directly with a specific suggestion, however, we can just e-mail the league at dwpl@doowopusa.org.
I have always personally found the DWPL to be very helpful, responsive and open to new thoughts.

I agree that the DWPL needs to make itself even more widely known, and I agree that well placed advertisements would help with this. The Wildwood guides are a good idea, but I'd think that ad's in publications like Architectural Digest or travel themed magazines might work out well also.

I believe the DWPL has been advertising itself in both the Motel/Hotel Association and Chamber of Commerce Visitors Guide for a while now...
The one problem they DO have is not operating an easily accessible building where the people who work there seem like they enjoy their jobs much from what I've seen. Much different than the extremely helpful people over at the Boyer Museum, who know their stuff and actually come across like they want to teach people about Wildwoods past and revising their staff.
Try getting into the DWPL and you'll see what I'm talking about...It's like it was some huge effort to simply unlock the door for people who care enough to get inside and visit. The worst part is that this is nothing new and the league should begin to reconsider how it does business.

I joined them a few months ago, and in place of passes for the museum, they instead sent me double the amount of tickets for the trolley tour of the motels. OK by me - I joined because I believe in what they're trying to accomplish, and would like to be of some help in this, though the extras are appreciated. It seems to me that they just have not been really ready for museum operations yet, but I would hope that will change once the Surfside is reassembled on Ocean Drive and the beach as the new home of the museum.

Hey Frank, I'm still around... albeit not nearly as much as I'd like to be.
This is my "busy" time of year, basically. For those who don't know, I am a sports writer by trade. My primary journalistic focus has always been hockey.
I have been on the road a ton lately, and have been conducting interviews, covering events and writing stories pretty much non-stop for about 3 weeks now.
Hectic, but fun.
I wish I had the time to post more on the board, but other things have simply been demanding my attention as of late (not to mention that my wife, son and I are just settling into a new house and the many other typical nuances of daily life).
Not a day goes by that I don't at least check in and see what's new on the board.
I have also been in constant contact with a number of folks down in the Wildwoods, both at the Crest Historical Society and at Morey's Piers.
Some interesting things are happening down there, stuff I will post about when the time is right.
I also have planned two day trips to the island for the coming weeks, one in late March and the other in early April. I will absolutely post another report on what I see and learn down there after these trips.
As Frank mentioned, the board has seemed to slow down a bit lately, but I'm sure that's just a temporary thing. It will light up again shortly, I am sure.
