I'm new too. Only 2 posts so far. I enjoy reading Thom, Robert and some others who seem to be about my age. Your memories are my memories. I've been so busy trying to read everything. My last trip to WW was the week of July 4th. Our view from our house on Stockton toward the beach was destroyed by the new condos. We used to enjoy seeing the light from the signs...Astronaut, etc. My first trip to WW was in 1958, just a baby. I recently found a picture of my family standing in front of the Keystone Kops ride circa l963-64. I'm pretty sure it was the Kops. Loved it. My grandparents lived on E. Columbine in Crest. We make it a point to visit the neighbors who still live in the same house. I grew up with their kids. I believe one of the sons is a lifeguard in the crest.

I was born Jan. 14, 1974. I think I'm a year younger than you, Kristen. Actually the great times for me were the late 70's-early 80's when Dorney Park had most of it's original dark rides and WW had almost everything like Hunt's, the Castle, Fun Pier wih Castle Frankenstein, Lost World, and Crazy House and mirror maze and Jungleland, Sportland fully open, yes I remember that, Morey's Haunted House, and the wax museum by Castle Dracula. Everything was great until the mid-80's then things started to go down hill as amusement places closed or scaled back operations and rides were removed. In 1970-1980 you had 7 piers open all with normal rides and individually owned, in the later 1980's you had 4 piers open Morey's Nickels Hunt's, and in the 90's basically the same except Morey's reopened Fun Pier and Hunt's Pier had a rocky time, closing and reopening and half-closing again. Now, it's down to the three Morey's Piers as normal ride piers and the others are go-karts or waterslides with missing or closed SBNO dark rides.
