While on vacation in WW last year, we stayed at a motel with piggyback parking. Jokingly, I said if you need to move the car you have to pump the gas, its one of those old fashion cars(87 Olds Cutlass). Deb the motel owner said he (referring to her husband Ralph) has an old car. So of course we had to ask what he had. A 1970 AMX. Is it for sale? It could be.
Off to the beach we go.
Later that night we go talk to Ralph about the X. The car was set up for racing (racing spool, fuel cell, drag shocks, roll bar etc.)but he had some of the original parts in boxes.
We go back to WW for the car show. Stopped over to talk to Ralph about the X. Ralph was going to be home the following weekend.
One week later we drove down to Lancaster Pa to look at the X. Wow, what a car 56,000 orig miles, 95% orig paint, most of the parts that he had taken off. So for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary we were dragging home a 1970 AMX. That was our present to each other. Not home 5 min. our good friend Ron was over and asking is it going to WW next year?
Over the cold winter months we got a different rear, front rims & tires, had the tranny gone over and had a custom gas tank made in order to keep the tail pipes. Did the major things to get the car street able. The car also wears the floor mats that we won as a door prize at the WW car show a few years ago and the key chain given away at the kick off party.
We only had the car on a 90 min run on the highway. So if I may ask to take 5 seconds out of your busy morning on Thursday and send us a positive thought that that we make it to WW

I wish that was my anniversary gift. Was the 1970 body style the same as 69 or did they change it that year?

Yep, if traffic flow is good we will make it in 3 1/2 hrs The 486 spool is gone and now has 355 posi if it still had the spool we would have to leave on Tuesday to make it for Friday.
The 70 had some minor changes, added a functional ram air hood (have to find the ram air) grill is differ and the dash was totally changed.
Would post some pics but can't figure it out.

It seemed like after 1970 the car (Javelin,AMX) was longer and had a slightly wider wheelbase but I may be wrong.

Yes the 70 is a little longer because of the change in the hood but the body style changed in 71 and AMX was a package available with the Javelins. Throw the little one and the wife in the car and take a ride down! Gotta start them out young!
The color is burnt orange coppery color. The plan is to be on the boards Friday and Saturday. But depending on what time Mark gets his butt out of bed on Sat and how the beers are flowing on Fri night. Depending on which way they send us on the boards the car will be in between the stretch from Jumbos to the Olympic Flame. If not in that stretch probably parked at the Skylark Motel parking lot.
Rumor has it that the burn out and flame throwing is going to be at the Cape May Airport, we shall see!

Would post some pics but can't figure it out. You can't post a photo directly to this board--you have to find somewhere to park it and then you post some code here that tells this message board to fetch your photo from the remote site, kinda sorta... If you want to try this, go and sign up at one of these sites: www.photobucket.comor www.imageshack.usand follow the instructions about how to upload photos to the account you just created. Once you've uploaded them, the code that you need to post here will appear alongside or below each photo. HTH.

Was it a Mad Max replica Frank? If it was an XB they are the most in demand of the Falcons from down under.
