At the DooWop reception last month, there was mention of a special that channel 10 was working on. It was filmed during the 60's weekend I believe? I thought it was scheduled for this coming Sunday, but haven't heard any mention of it on channel 10. Maybe I misunderstood, anyone have any info.

I saw a Channel 10 reporter interviewing Yogi from Neils Steakhouse at the corner of Schellenger and Atlantic that week. I thought the show was supposed to air last weekend and I stayed up all weekend looking for it to no avail. Anyone know the truth? Thom

Thom, Martin and I both thought it was last Sunday as well. I promised to tape it for him since NBC10 doesn't service his area. I would think 10 would advertise this special, but haven't seen anything on it.

You know, re, I e-mailed NBC10 on Friday, and they never responded… buuuuuuut they did manage to immediately place me on some kind of news update/alert service, and now I’m getting 2-3 unwanted e-mails from them every day.
I can’t figure out a way to unsubscribe myself, not that it’s really a big deal, though.
I’m going to try to call the station directly today, and see what info I can get.

NBC 10 did do filming around the island on the Saturday of the 60s weekend. They did filming at the museum with Bob Scully and filmed the Doo Wop trolley tour. The producer at the museum told me the show will air during July and would try to be packaged with the opening of the neon garden. If that is true we will not be seeing it soon.
It really looked bad when the trolley tour ladies had to beg people to ride for free so the bus looked filled up for NBC10.

Thanks Anothony, for the info. Guess we will have to wait a while longer. If anyone hears anything further on an air date, please pass it along. re

At last word, the mayor said he hoped construction would begin possibly last week or this one. As of today, Monday, it still hasn't begun. But then, we've had a pretty good amount of rain lately. Maybe that's it. Unless it begins soon, I don't see how it will open in July. I'd feel better betting on Labor Day weekend at the very earliest. Thom

Back around July 1996 NBC10 did a "Down the Shore" week and hit all the Jersey Shore spots for a two hour long news program. On the Wildwood day, they were stationed right in the heart of the boardwalk. They did several interesting things, such as having Cozy Morley come to sing, interview with a Dinosaur Beach represenative on the pier, and even ride the Great Nor' Easter and Tram Car. I actually have it on VHS tape, I remember taping it right before my 1996 vacation. Ahh.. the memories. :-)
