Well I'm a North Wildwood person, I'm right here on 16th, a stones throw from Surf Ave, 6 months a year. I'm with Martin, the south end and the Lurae block are the PITS. Last Fall I called Surf Ave. a "vast wasteland" Sitting out on my "perch" waiting on the Friday night fireworks @ 10:30. re

Well I'm a North Wildwood person, I'm right here on 16th, a stones throw from Surf Ave, 6 months a year. I'm with Martin, the south end and the Lurae block are the PITS. Last Fall I called Surf Ave. a "vast wasteland" Sitting out on my "perch" waiting on the Friday night fireworks @ 10:30. re Must have been a nice night for the fireworks. Hope you enjoyed them. Just so you know, you're enjoying this cool spell in my honor--I'm coming down tomorrow for the first time since last September to visit for a couple of nights It figures, I'm up here sweating like a pig since June and just in time for my escape to Wildwood, the weeks of oppressive H&H magically disappear. I need at least 85 on the beach to get motivated to swim, so there may not be much of that. But it should be a nice sunny weekend and I'm grateful for the chance just to be there and connect with precious memories again. I'll probably drive up Surf Ave on the way out Monday afternoon... I feel like such a bozo. It really wasn't until last year that I actually parked the car near Surf, walked around a bit and found myself thinking, gee, maybe I oughta stay up here a time or two. Little did I realize that the whole North Wildwood motel scene was already in the process of being hacked to pieces... Maybe the cooling of the real estate market will save some of the remaining classics, at least for a while. That is the only hope I can see.

Take a ride up on J.F.K. Blvd. - it's still pretty nice up there...

Nights have been cool, the last few days beautiful. Was almost chilly on the beach yesterday, with that strong breeze. This wonderful weather they say will continue, the water has warmed up to the mid 70's again. I'll leave the light on for you here in NWW. This Sunday NWW has their annual Flea Market(along JFK), lots of vendors, fun thing to do. Enjoy your Wildwood Days!

Drat! You guys posted those messages just about the time I was (finally) heading out the door on Saturday. I am SO sorry I missed that flea market, I love those things. Maybe next year I did drive up Surf Ave as I was leaving. From there I traveled the Ocean Drive as far as Sea Isle City and then realized I'd left my down pillow at the motel so I went back for it, and then when I set out to head home again, I drove up Surf a second time, like a moth drawn to a flame, or shall we say the lack of one? I really couldn't believe my eyes, despite all the warnings from people here. Surf has been completely stripped of its personality... it's a crime. I did have a nice time, thanks, re, other than a couple of sad moments that I was somewhat prepared for thanks to this group. The weather was near-perfect. Since returning home in the wee hours of Tuesday I've been busy giving my employer back the time I took off. I'll be posting a few photos and tidbits from my visit later this week or over the weekend.
