How tall is the Bolero? Isn't that pretty tall? The Bolero is 8 stories. I always stay on the sixth floor. The 7th floor is the pool and gym. The 8th floor is where Wally and his Wife live. His little dog too!

Just to get back to the ww diner one last time, how many years was it closed for? I know it was not open last year and I think it was also closed in 2004 but i'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure the Singapore was approved for Condos ( Martin Chime In) but the original person still owns it. It would be strange for someone to buy a business like the Shamrock and keep 90% of the help (maybe more) and run it exactly the same way. I

I believe the owner of the Singnapore purposely set a very high price for his property because he wants to keep it, unless someone pays the huge amount of money he set, which is unlikely because the land would probably have rom for dozens of condos, and with the market cooled slightly now, I think developers are afraid to build many more as there is still so much for sale and they don't want to "loose their shirts" when trying to sell dozens of new condos on a very saturated market.

Just saw the photos. Unbelievable. Sad and depressing. Had many a breakfast, lunch and dinner in there. I am going to look for my pictures when I was little standing in front of the diner and on the steps. Thank god for pictures and memories.

Not sure how long the diner has been closed, but I think the last time I was there was 2001 or 2002. I'm pretty sure it closed not long after my lasr visit, so I'd say at least three or four years.

Believe it or not....the diner was open and opperating up until last Summer. I have a business card I took from September 2005 when I was there for the last time. Its so hard to believe that it feels that long ago. But truth be told, the Diner didn'topen this year for the first time in many many years. It was open until September 2005!

sounds similar to what transpired with the Rio Cafe. Unbeknownst to us, we had our last breakfast there in mid-September 2004, June 2005 it was a pile of rubble.
sad.

I have no inclinations as to why they are permitted to do this mid-season. The last thing I want to hear is construction during my vacation. NOt pleastant to hear or look at.

I Jim, I remember the Singapore being one (of many) Motels last fall where the owners applied for the demolition permits before the new zoning took effect. We got the impression that most of the owners did so as sort of a contingency plan, in case the new zoning didn't work out well. I don't know for sure, but I was told by someone that the owners who applied had 5 years to be grandfathered into the old zoning.

The diner must have had shortened hours then. Because everytime I drove past it it was closed. Unless there were no patrons at these times but I remember the parking lot being empty.

I know that they weren't staying open very late anymore, but not sure about how early they opened. As far as being busy, everytime I went there last Summer, I had no wait whatsoever. There was probably a good chance of them being very slow.

Almost too painful to witness, even in still pictures.
