Well you can't just leave a crappy area alone. Putting in new things, that are clean and bright slowly drive away the scum.
New Brunswick NJ started revitalizing their town, which was not in that great shape by imploding three huge housing buildings aka "The Projects" They were replaced by luxury condos. New, modern, well lit at night. Imediately the area saw improvment. Now that was down several years ago, but now they are doing more to fix up the surrounding area, and New Brunswick is well on it's way to becoming a higher class town. I certainly feel much safer there than I did several years ago.
If Wildwood has gang issues, and slummy areas, the only way to fix it is to drive them out. If new modern, clean, bright development is introduced into the run down areas, the problem people will usually leave. Iv'e heard tons of people complain about these crappy sections of town, Iv'e drove through them, and it is disgracful. However, the only way to fix it is to introduce new construction of well lit modern places (such as resturaunts, etc) or take older more run down buildings and renovate. The town must also make sure the streets are well lit at night and increase police presence in the area.

I found a few years ago that there are parts of Wildwood I wouldn't want to be caught alone after the sun goes down. I inadvertantly parked my car in one of those areas on a busy Saturday night and I was almost sorry for it. I agree, the only way to get rid of society's crap is to push them out with new development of modern, well-lit places. They don't have to be ultra-luxurious, just something better than what is there. Why doesn't the city focus on those areas instead of allowing the developers to run roughshod over the areas of the city that don't need any help?

I think the problem is that the developers are pushing everyday people like us out, along with "societies crap".....they really don't seem to care anymore about anyone except the wealthy

I think that's the unfortunate downside, although the middle class have different reasons. The "crap" gets forced out because they have no choice but the middle class moves on because they feel they can get more for their money elsewhere. The thing is, Wildwood made a name for itself because it was very middle class friendly.

Drove by Fox Park, it looks like they are laying the foundation on the DW Museum today, several cement mixers on site.

Drove by Fox Park, it looks like they are laying the foundation on the DW Museum today, several cement mixers on site. re There are a couple of big events coming up that will be hosted at Fox Park, mainly the Italian festival later t his month. Apparently they won't be affected by the construction. I guess the neon garden will be the very last things to go up - Thom
