Does anybody have a picture of the Castle Dracula billboard from the 80's? The one that had a green monster grinning and pointing the way? It seemed huge and unavoidable as a kid, yet I've never seen a picture.
Also, does anybody have a picture of Photon?

Wow, I wish. I might have a pic of that creature on an old postcard somewhere. I will check.
DjDoornob, when you say it was "unavoidable" when you were a kid, do you mean that it scared the heck out of you?
Because, I remember that being one of the images in Wildwood that terrified me as a kid, that creepy sign.
I was also petrified of the giant Dr. Blood's House of Horror guy, the huge head with the tophat.
There was something else, too... I think it was the face of a really creepy looking lady or something, definitely at Mariner's Landing. I can't remember. I was really young, and the details are really sketchy in my mind.
I think it might have been a part of the Hitchcock Mansion, or some ride/exhibit that was over in that area.
Anybody have any idea what I'm talking about here?

Hi, there is a picture of the photon on the fun chase website under the "hunts theaters" section. The photon was the hollywood casino and before that a movie theatre owned by the hunts. Aslo cant forget about the roller skating!

Al- Yes, I was petrified of that thing as a kid. It took me so many years to work up the courage to go in the castle. I really wish I could find a picture. What I meant by "unavoidable" was that it seemed to be right smack in the middle of the boardwalk for everyone to see, so I find it odd that there aren't any pictures of it around.
It's funny you mention Dr.Bloods. I know it's been there for ages, but I don't remember it at all as a kid. Hunts was probably the northenmost pier we would walk to before turning around, so Dr. Blood's is a relatively new discovery for me. I'm sure I would have been obsessed with it's mysterious presence as a kid.
I can't remember a fat lady at morey's, unless maybe you are talking about something painted on the facade of one of the old funhouses (post on those to come!).
Crazy- thanks for the link! I've read Funchase over a hundred times, and I can't believe I somehow missed that picture!
I never played Photon in Wildwood. I used to go to the Photon on rt.22 (Springfield?) as a kid though. What a cool place! SO MUCH cooler than any lazer tag place I've seen since (they had multi-levels!).
I think Photon was alerady closed by the time I discovered it in Wildwood, but I can remember teenagers skateboarding near the "Photon" mural on the back wall (near the go-karts, in later years).

Al- just noticed you said "creepy lady" and not "fat lady", I think in my head I was picturing a "laughing sal". Sorry.
Still don't know what you're referring too though. haha.

I can't believe that creature was "Crazy Eddie". I was never a Maiden fan, but I used to love thier album art as a kid. I never made that connection!
