WILDWOOD---Tom Henofer and Patrycja Ciupak both work at Morey's Pier in Wildwood. That's also where they met, fell in love, and were married this evening -- at the top of the 200 ft. ferris wheel. A native of Poland, Ciupak said she was excited about the big day, but also a little nervous about exchanging vows in front of such a large crowd, "this is something to remember for the rest of our lives." Morey's Pier's Chaplin, Ray Neu, performed the ceremony at the top of the giant ride, and says that while he's performed many weddings, this was in the most unique location yet, "when Tom called, he said 'I just need to know you're not afraid of heights', and I thought, I know what's coming." The newlyweds plan to spend a couple of days honeymooning in Atlantic City, before they both report back to work on the amusement pier next week. www.nbc40.net/view_news.asp?NID=2441 Side note: the ferris wheel on Mariner's is not 200 feet..it's more like 160ft.

Cute story, thanks! Actually, I used to work with a girl that got engaged on the ferris wheel, but this is a first, I suppose...

I'm glad to hear of the good things that are occuring in Wildwood amongst all the destruction of buildings. I love weddings, I wish I could have seen that one. That is one for the Wildwood history books!

I love weddings too. I reminds me of that line from "City Slickers". Crystal: What was your "best day"? Stern: The day I got married. Crystal: Really? Then what was your "worst day"? Stern: Every day after that is a tie. Sorry Anyway, seriously, good for them, beats the run of the mill Saturday afternoon church wedding any day. And this might be some very positive exposure for WW, I hope one of the national networks picks it up and runs at least a quick 30 seconds on it. very cool.

Roller coaster weddings are a pretty popular thing among amusement park nuts (like myself). I've never heard of a Ferris wheel wedding. Still, probably to the dismay of thelastresort, we'll be passing on a coaster wedding and instead be doing the "run of the mill" thing

Hey Rob, don't feel bad, us too, 90 minutes long and incense galore (my wife is Greek Catholic -- went over great with my entire Roman Catholic family, I'm sure )

Well, we're doing the shorter thing (should be 45 minutes or so), and yeah, it's mainly to satisfy the Roman Catholic family. Both of us do a good job of distancing ourselves from religion. Call us hypocrites!

Call us hypocrites! dude, talk about hypocrisy, I'm the "typical" old-school PA Catholic male I drink I gamble I curse I love women I basically hate my neighbor I perform little, if any, works of charity whatsoever I disagree with and rag about the church and the bishops decisions constantly but I'm at mass every weekend??go figure

That majority of that goes for me, except I can't remember the last time I went to mass!

Perhaps the nuns were a bit tougher layering on the "chastisement, with an extra side order of guilt, please" in my day (remember, I've got you by 15 years).
Or maybe it's just a "PA thing"?

bottom line Rob, we're doomed anyway, back on topic. I've been searching google off and on this afternoon for strings like "married" AND "ferris wheel" AND "wildwood", and nothing yet (found some old, unrelated articles). maybe too soon and it's not "out there" yet. But too bad, it would be nice if NBC picked it up this evening, a nice novelty item, especially with all the bad things going on in the world today. Do any of you local folks know anyone at Channel 40? Curious if they can pitch the story to the network in NYC? would be a nice pitch for ol' WW. Maybe those two kids can pose for a billboard shot? would be nice to see that along the Schuylkill expressway. any marketing specialist out there?

I think I've been doomed for a long time. Oh well, as Billy Joel says, better to laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, right?
I never thought of a Ferris wheel wedding, although I'm sure it's not for everyone. I know it can get pretty windy up there and I'm sure not all brides would be up for that after spending days on their hair. How about a wedding on AtmosFEAR? Or the Zoom Phloom? Talk about "taking the plunge"... MWAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHA HAHA hahahaha hahah ha OMG I crack myself up.

Funny,
But seriously, I was just thinking of some ad like "find your love in WW", or "create an ocean memory", or something like that, as a pitch to visit the "new WW", especially for those who have not been there in 20 years (please folks, no smart alec "like Robert" responses, ok? remember -- respect)
Better to see a billboard with a couple smooching on the WW ferris wheel, than another cigarette ad.
Just a thought.

It would be good publicity, but maybe Morey's has tried to keep it a secret? Perhaps if people start seeing that, they'll be flooded with requests for Ferris wheel weddings?
