Yes hulk it did. It was a classic place that I adored as a kid.. I believe it came down this past winter cause I did not see it in June..

I thought so too Frank, simply because I didn't remember a big hole behind the Mark I, but Martin Melucci in my "Help..." thread said both the T&C and the Crest were destroyed prior to the '05 season. Sure wish we had a master list of demolitions somewhere. These places deserve to be remembered... Hurry up with that site relaunch, Al! (j/k)

A masterlist of old motels and other institutions will be one of the main features of the site.

I'm almost certain the Town & Country came down after the 2004 season - I don't think it was earlier, but with so many demolitions, it's hard to keep track of some of them...

Martin, I'm not positive, but I'm fairly sure that the Town & Country came down during the spring of '04. I think the '03 season was its final in operation.
Like you said, though, it's tough to keep track of all of these places. I could very well be getting mixed up.

I think you're right, Al. I remember it seeming like a wasteland over there in summer 2004, especially at night. Just dark and dead...

The town and country was one of the first places my parents stayed at in ww. The first year they went down they stayed at the Pyramid. The following year the T&C.

Not to change gears here too much but wasn't the Cavalier behind the Ala Kai? And was/is there a motel behind the Cavalier?

wasn't the Cavalier behind the Ala Kai? And was/is there a motel behind the Cavalier? That sounds right, Hulk, and Yahoo Maps seems to indicate that Ala Kai's location (8301 Atlantic) is at Toledo, where the Cavalier was. And no, there is/was nothing behind the Cavalier site; unfortunately, the Wildwoods have lost yet another beachfront motel.

Sad to see so many of the smaller oceanfront motels go. But its also primo real estate. Hopefully some motels will stand the test of time.
