But honestly, sad to say, I think once the decision has been made not to run it as a motel, it's best to tear it down, instead of the owners half-assing it by trying to make them something they are not. Most of the smaller older places lack the amenities of "21st century condos" that serious condo-type folks are looking for. Sure, some of the beachfront Crest motels might be able to pull it off. But I think that some of these attempts can end up as disaster projects, with the places ultimately being torn down anyway, and bringing bad press to the island as a whole.
