Aren't these places checked? How do people get away with that?

They get away with it because people accept it. They go back! If everyone complained they would have to change.

What normal person would go back to a filthy motel?

Personally, I'm not sure if the crappy places rely on repeat clientele, I think they just make their living preying on a new crop of suckers every season, with their websites that are "misleading" to say the least.

I agree, and I would question any place that uses photos from the early 70's for their brochures.

Well, even though a place isn't really "up to date", that doesn't mean it shouldn't be clean or taken care of.

I agree there is no excuse for "not clean".

Somehow it happens. Again this is not to say all places in ww are flea bags by any means. I'm sure for every pit there is a clean well kept place(e.g the Pyramid)

I really think people think if they can get away with it they will. Cleaning is work and they save money if they dont have to clean.

It's still disgusting. You would think if the owners knew they would leave a bad impression, they would certainly lose alot of business; which only makes it worse for them.

Either way you look at it, they're still losing.

Either way you look at it, they're still losing. not really, as long as the rooms are filled. doesn't matter if it is return customers or new suckers, money is money, and sucker money is probably better since they can get it with no effort.
