They are playing all the 80's hits in order from 1980 up on XM radio! Right now they are at 1985. This is bringing back memories for me, some of those songs I haven't heard in years. Actually, they are playing all the hits from 1920's to present on different channels at different weeks, they already played the 70's. I really love the 80's music it's the decade I grew up in. Anyone like Bruce Springsteen? Hall & Oates? Michael Jackson? Christopher Cross? Laura Branigan? Huey Lewis & the News? Phil Collins/Genesis? The Cars? Madonna? Whitney Houston? I remember the 1981-1983 time period country western was popular with its like Love will Turn you Around, Playing with the Queen of Hearts, Love's been a little bit hard on me, Working 9 to 5. Anyone remember the show "Hee Haw" from 1980-1981? And when MTV played VIDEOS? And Pres. Ronald Reagan's speeches on TV? Now we have to put up with George W.'s. The one song that I associate with Wildwood is Pete Townshend's "Let Love open the Door" because around 1981 I heard this song in a boardwalk shop and liked the sound of it.

Ah yes, Juice Newton " The joker is the only fool who'll do anything for you" These days she's probably selling juice some place.

I have to agree with darkride and to put it so bluntly! I know someone else like that; my son who lives with my X (his father). That kid doesn't have to worry about a thing. He's well taken care of. Yes, it must be nice.

The 80's music reminds me alot of my kids growing up, but I still prefer the 50's and 60's. Alot of the music started getting pretty rough after that.

Hey Robert- I LOVE 80s music but I prefer more of the new wave / alternative groups: The English Beat, Echo and the Bunnymen, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Peter Murphy, The Smiths, etc. I don't have XM radio but I got Sirius; mostly because of Howard Stern. (I cannot start my day without listening to him!) The majority of my presets are: 80s music, new wave / alternative, classic rock, heavy metal, punk, ska, etc.
I do like the more popular 80s groups too.... Van Halen, Phil Collins / Genesis, Madonna! And I'm sorry but the music of today sucks and there's no one who stands out (for me) that has real talent. It's like the record executives are just "giving" record deals away to anyone!

Another big 80's fan here ;D Pretty much all the bands that you mentioned Robet I had at least one of their cassettes (lol buying those!). We have Sirius too although it's in my husbands truck I have the 80's channel set for me.

We have Sirius also. It was purchased to listen to Howard but I've had lots of fun listening to the other stuff. Unfortunatly my husband has the receiver so I have limited channels from work on my computer. Sirius only has a few stations available on the internet so I'm listening to Howard then I'm flicking between 80's, new wave and hair bands. People in work feel they are walking into a time warp when they come into my office. I'm just a real 80's person, I used to have the big hair and all. My kids love laughing at those pictures and trying to figure out how I got my hair into some of the styles. Not only don't they make as good music now but the videos today are not as good as the 80's either. Ah, to be able to go to some exotic country to make some videos (Duran Duran) or to see an arena band actually playing in areas (Def Leppard, Journey). Boy I miss those days.

I would get Sirius just to listen to Howard but at $12.50 a month for service that's on happening anytime soon. I'll stick with Opie and Anthony on free fm.

I loved the 80's when it was the 80's. Just getting tired of it now. The music was so artificial. I realize that now. So, I have given up on the 80's for the present. Maybe in another 10 years I will listen to it again.

So what are you saying, wanderer, that the current music is better than the 80's? Including all the awful rap and "teen" music? 80's rap and teen music (ie, Tiffany, NKOTB) was better than the current stuff in my opinion only. My mom still likes music from the 50's and 60's because that was her generation. Elvis and Beatles. I guess you like whatever time period you grew up in. Today's young people born 80's and up probably listen to more 90's stuff like Green Day, Linkin Park, Britney, Limp Bizkit, Eminem, etc. The pop music of today sounds just as artificial if not worse. Remember when Casey Kasem was on the radio American Top 40 from July 4, 1970-August 6, 1988? He came back to the AT40 on radio in 1998 but was replaced in 2004 by a young man who was born the same year I was, 1974. You can still hear the 70's 80's Kasem countdowns on XM on Thursday's at 10 PM and Sunday at 12 PM for the 80's. I don't pay for XM I found a link somewhere for the 80's channel. Did you know Kasem was the voice of Shaggy in the 70's Scooby Doo cartoons? There were some Scooby episodes with amusement parks and dark rides, and one with an amusement pier that reminded me of Wildwood in a way and there was a steam train ride that Scooby almost crashed into at a crossing while riding a runaway scooter. There was a Batman/Scooby cartoon with an amusement park with a haunted house that the Joker set up booby traps for them.

I loved Casey Kasem! I used to listen to him on Saturday mornings for the top 40. But I had NO idea he was the voice of Shaggy.

For your info Robert I graduated High School in the eighties, had the eighties hair, clothes, talk, attitude, everything eighties!!! Casey Kasem had his day, there is nothing wrong with new. Actually I listen to classic country, reggae, some latino dance music, of course Jimmy Buffet, and very scant amount of new music. Maybe because I am truly at mid-age now. I never said one type of music is better, just music styles get tired. Wait til you're older, you'll see.
