Here is what my redevelopment plan for wildwood would be like. This probably has little chance of happening, but this is what I hope.
First we preserve all remaining motels and declare that the Doo Wop Historic Distric. All diners will be in the district, too. Then rennovate Hunt's Pier and rebuild all of the old attractions. Then encourage shops to move into Pacific Avenue. Then have the Cape May Seashore Lines extend train service into Wildwood. Then start running historic or new trolleys that are made to look historic on the old trolley routes. Then to top it all off, build a huge motel/hotel complex in doo wop style right on the boardwalk.
Hopefully, this will come true someday.

That would be nice. The Wildwoods just need a big facelift, I wish some of the motel owners would take better care of their properties. I mean stuff that really annoys me and isnt that hard to deal with is...
Clean windows, fix burned out neon, all other lights should work, and some other monor things would cure most of the exterior problems.

I've thought about the possibility of it ever being able to rebuild some of the rides of Hunt's Pier. I wonder if the plans, drawings, etc., exist to be able to make an authentic replica of any of the old rides? Yes, you can never go home again so to speak, but if proper documentation existed, and things were done in a manner true to the originals, I think it would be a great thing. It was a total disgrace to destroy almost everything that was once on the old Hunt's Pier. Sure, there were some things there that were available elsewhere, even if in a similar manner, but the basically one of a kind stuff they had like the Whacky Shack, Keystone Kops, etc., at the least should have been saved. The Flyer, while not necessarily one of a kind, was historically signiificant IMO, and should have been preserved. Thank God the Golden Nugget (my favorite from Hunt's Pier) still exists, and will hopefully be properly restored and put into use again in a few years.

There was a rumor that the Golden Nugget would be running this year, but now it won't be until 2006-2007.
