when we used to ride bikes in the morning on the boardwalk we used to stop at a place to get orange juice(they had other flavors too) and it was sooooo good,. It was called Alpine drinks. They were served in big stainless tins and scooped out by ladles into your cups.. I believe they also had lime rickys.. Frank

Frank:
I Think I remember alpine drinks. If I remember correctly, it was kind of a smoothy drink whipped up in a blender. Am I thinking of the same place??? If so, they were very good especially the OJ in the morning.

My uncle ALWAYS talks about Alpine drinks.
I’ll have to ask him about the specifics of what he remembers…

Does anyone remember the peanut place with the Mr. Peanut statue outside??? I don't remember this personally (a little before my time), but I believe this has come up on the boards before. If I'm not mistaken, people talked about some sort of mysterious, creepy sound that emanated either from the statue itself or from something else nearby. Apparently, this sound completely freaked out many a child on the Boards back in the day. Makes me laugh whenever this comes up.

Sorry Al for repeating something that's already come up before but I'm new to this board and hopefully will check things out before I continue.

Oh no, please don't worry about it, rio. I definitely didn't mean to suggest that you should have searched anything before posting. Very sorry if it came out that way!
I was just noting that the only reason I knew about the Mr. Peanut statue was because someone mentioned it previously on the boards. Personally, I love when topics are revisited and looked back upon from different perspectives.
By the way, welcome to the board!

I remember Mr. Peanut out in front of Planter's Peanuts on the Atlantic City Boardwalk up by the Steel Pier. And yes he used to scare the crap out of many kids----myself included!!

Sorry Al for repeating something that's already come up before but I'm new to this board and hopefully will check things out before I continue. I hate when I post on a new board and people start b_tching about the topic being mentioned before. Like they expect you to search all 2000 posts on the board. I just tell them to F off. I don't think Al was b_tching though...he was just making a statement.
