I used to love Woolworth's, and G.C. Murphy's on Pacific Aves. they were sooooooo kool, I wonder if they will ever do anything with those stores, a whale of a dollar didn't go over real big.

me too maworstall. I used to love walking into the "town" and shopping at the stores. It was also part of the wildwood charm. Maybe one day it will be a fun place to stroll around. They seem to be trying to make something happen in the town. we will just have to wait and see.

The family always went to Pacific Ave., on rainy days. What a great place to shop in the old days. I have many happy memories of walking around those 5 and 10 cent stores.

Does anyone remember the old "Family Department Stores", or the Junk store as I used to call them, heh? Something about that place (I used to go to the one in the Crest) that I liked. Probably been closed for at least 10 years or so. I remember getting my board for the ocean there around 1986. They also sold (class D) fireworks.

Yes, I think that's it, though for some reason I remember it being on one of the side streets in Wildwood Crest, but right near New Jersey Avenue.
What's Snuffy's?

Snuff's is (was) a little corner restaurant kinda like Larkin's around Cardinal & New Jersey in WWC. It's been there a while, my 60 something year old parents remember it being there when they were young...........now that's old!!!

I remember going to the five and dimes too. Always think of them and feel sad when we drive by! I think Woolworths had the little area to eat and get a vanilla coke. Why do good places have to close???

Actually there were Three 5 & dimes in downtown Wildwood. Newberrys, Woolworths & Murphys. Murphys was famous for its front window 'library' of comic books. Me and my brothers would hang out there while my mother shopped.

Oh yes, shopping for comic books was a favorite childhood vacation activity. Anyone notice that ALL Woolworth's (well, all 5 & 10 stores for that matter) smell the same way?

Woolworth's had the best french fries and greasy cheeseburgers for lunch during the winter season! Downtown Pacific avenue was the hot spot in the winter when everything else was closed. So peaceful...
