Does anyone remember a store called Cathy and Joe's in the crest? I used to love to go there with my Grandfather. I also remember a store with an old wooden floor and a counter ? you could sit at for sodas and the like. Maybe that was Cathy and Joe's as well. My memory is a bit hazy...we're talking early 60's.

I remember Cathy and Joe's and I believe the building is still there. I drove by it onver the winter and it looked to be in really bad shape. They also had the motel if I'm not mistaken.
The old store with the wooden floor and counter may be Shea's market that used to be on 17th street. Awesome place that was. Great sign....does anyone know what happened to that sign?

Anderson's sticks in my mind...was there an Anderson's? I remember buying little beach toys and rubber thongs and such. I also remember Hankin's candy store when it was just a little place on Columbine Rd. just a few doors away from my grandparents house. We used to buy huge lollipops there. We called them all-day suckers.

I wouldn't have thought of Anderson's by name on my own, but yes, Pam, I think that's the place with the wooden floor and the counter. We used to get the small pink eraser-colored rubber balls there to play beach pong with. I remember Cathy & Joe's too, I was very fond of all the little stores back in that area. I think C&J's has just been sitting dormant for years as ww4life suggested. Hate seeing that happen to places that were once a vital part of the scene, it's like looking at a corpse. Hehe, another blast from the past... the pops had a multicolored concentric pattern, didn't they? Very popular at the shore in the 60s.

Yeah, it was in that general area. I remember Taylor's meat market??? I think there is a surf shop somewhere around there and maybe a defunct Gulf gas station where I used to get seashells when I was about six or seven. Can't recall exact location.
Does anyone remember the dances in the evenings at the old Crest Pier. I remember live bands and going there as a young child in the 60's doing the bunny hop, etc. It was a treat for us because my mom would dress us up in our cutest dresses, anklets, and patent leather shoes. I can recall sliding all over the dance floor and falling down.
