My kids will never see the Wildwoods like I did, and it's sad.
My family has owned the same property for over 60 years, and this will be my 36th summer.
Growning up, my dad would show me places he hung out and went to as a kid because they were still around.
Every place I ever worked in the Wildwoods is no more. Every building has been torn down and turned into a town house. All I have now are some matchbooks and some faded aprons and coffee mugs.
I think the redevelopment is a good think, but it's sad to see the places that give the towns their character ripped down to be replaced with a carbon copy of the house across the street.
I'll have to look for that matchbook collection. I used to have them from a lot of motels and restaurants on the island. When I find them, I'll scan them and post them.
