Incidentally, it's amusing that this board automatically substitutes "bad" words with other words, evidently, it wont let Skuakid say "D-ck Clark"! it substitutes the word "thingy" for "D-ck" minga! This has actually led to some humorous confusion in the past. ;D Someone, a while back, was trying to post something or other about c-ocktails. I think it was in a post about Zaberer's. Anyway, it kept coming up "thingytails," and everyone was really confused for a while. The person who originally posted the message went back and tried to post the word c-ocktails several times before any of us figured out what the deal was. It was pretty funny.

I agree Al. Its would be a great compliment to the StarLux, Shalimar for sure.. Thanks for posting the photo, Eric. It's neat to see an image of the Eden Roc during its prime. The motel has seen better days, for sure. It's still not in bad shape, per se, but I don't think it's being kept up as well as it should be. Inspect the property close up, and you'll see what I mean. The Eden Roc is another one of those places that is quite unique, and could really benefit from the "Caribbean" treatment. It could be another "flagship" entity for the Wildwoods with the proper level of TLC, I believe.

I always liked that Waterways sign at night. It had such a cool soft blue color to it. Does anyone remember what other hotels were/are near there? I miss seeing that sign and alot of the others that are no longer around. It amazed me as you drove down the main drag to see how colorful street was with all of them lit up.
I was wondering if any one can give me a tip on taking photos at night of the neon signs? I have a digital camera and I tried to do so last summer and some of my photos came out blurry or had a double exposure look to them, even when using the night setting.

good advice. The flash must be off at night for the exposure time to be long enough to catch dark detail so that means you have to be REALLY still or use a tripod or something to rest the camera on that does not move.

The Waterways is at 7204 Ocean Avenue. It is close to the Admiral, and not too far from the Hawaii Kai. In that general area.
I also had that same problem with my digital camera, Bono. You need to remain absolutely still to talk a good night photo. CV's recomendation of a tripod is a good tip. When you get the picture, it is well worth the effort. I took a shot of the ferris wheel at night and it came out so well that it almost looks like the daytime.
