Hi, my name is mike crater, proud owner of mikes brick oven pizza, 35 years old, and crazy about wildwood!!! Always loved that town since I was a little kid and my parents would drive over from cape may and when you got over the toll bridge and could see all the lights and motels, the excitement would build in my stomach and then you would see the flickering josies pizza sign from a distance you knew you were getting closer to the boards and all the action. I have great memories of wildwood and still making more great memories! You can visit my website www.digitalpottstown.com/mikes to see my picture of me and some parts of my pizza shop. I am also a halloween fanantic and have a big event every year (haunted maze and house walk threw) Also dorney park is my home town park and live about 25 minutes away. I am also a member of dorney park online, great website, come over and check it out!It has been nice chatting with everyone and look foward to posting more thoughts on this great web site!!!!

PS: Glad you're here to share your Wildwood memories... After all, itsn't that what this board is about?

Hi Mike!!! You and my husband would get along great!!! We are true Wildwoodians, born and raised in Pottstown, PA. We buy your pizza too - everyone if you're in Pottstown, travel out to the North End and get Mike's Pizza - it is indeed the best!!!! We LOVE Wildwood, we have to all band together to stop the destruction of our island!!! Corporate greed has got to stop!!! If these elderly owners can not keep their motels and hotels any longer, then sell them to younger entreprenuers that want to save our "doo wop" resort!!! Earl & I have been going to the Wildwoods since 1949 for him and 1953 for me!!! We know alot of people down there. We DO NOT want an island of condos and townhouses!!! We need to get the island to be a year round resort!!! We go from March thru Nov. and we were down for New Year's this year too!! It was great!!!! We must let our voices be heard - the island will suffer, maids will be out of work, linen services are losing clients, the restaurants are already hurting, bike rentals are way down and the list goes on and on!!!! They only want the condos and townhouses because they want utility bills year round from the "new" residents!!!!! The costs are ridiculous, it's cheaper to go to Florida most families are finding out!!! Thank God for the Morey Family in Wildwood!!!!!

shoregirl, thankyou for your kind words! Do you still live in pottstown? Frank, crusing in pottstown has slowed down since they made high street only 1 lane! They also have a bike lane now and this weird "back in" parking like they did back in the 1930s! Things change, but I have met people all over that remember pottstown for there crusing!

Hi Mike,
Yes we still live in Pottstown. I told my husband we have to stop out at your pizza shop this weekend to say hello. We live up towards Stowe, in Pottsgrove Manor. How often do you go to Wildwood? My husband knows EVERYTHING about the island, we nicknamed him "the mayor"!!! Do you remeber when they had the arcade game on the boardwalk where they used "live" piglets?? I don't, but my husband does!! It was back in the early to mid 60's!! I can't believe I can't remeber that game!!! I do remember the huge arcade building though, when the big merry-go-round was inside. We went to the home show last weekend on Shoemaker Rd., I get a kick out of the historical society that try and convince us that the downtown is "booming". I set that goofy broad straight!! I told her there is no reason, especially for women to go downtown anymore, there are NO STORES for us!! We do not need any more stupid "consignment" shops and used furniture stores!! The only thing the men have downtown is "Weitzenkorn's" wow - big deal. Our downtown was wonderful back in the 50's and 60's. How long have you lived in Pottstown? Well stop by for some more pizza this weekend, it is THE BEST!!!! Talk to you soon, Charlene

Hi y'all..I'm not from Pottstown, but I dod know a couple of guys that live(maybe) there. One of them was 'Count Dracula' in the Castle in 1983...and his room mate worked at Casino Arcade. We all lived at a boarding house called The Trenton House.
I went up to see them for a few days after the season...nice little town ya got up there.

Hey Contessa, I was there, on the boards in 1982/1983. I would have been a 9 year old kid with my mother and father (he died in 1986) and my younger brother (born in 1978). We did all the piers, from Fun to Sportland. We didn't get near the Castle then, though but I remember seeing it while walking past and into Mariner's Landing. My first time in the castle was 95. Would you say the Castle was scarier then in 1983 versus 1995 and beyond?

Yes Robert, I think it was scarier...as I have told you on an assortment of forums.

We all know that Robert has a short term memory. Just ignore him when he keeps asking the same questions.
