Let me tell you how nice it is to see people caring so much about the town to share pictures and their stories. I thought I would never find anything on the internet about what's truly going on in the wildwoods. A short background so I won't take up too much time. My grandparents owned a few motels from the 50's through the 80's. I grew up in North Cape May but spent all of my summers with them in wwc. It was the best time of my life, seeing the same people year after year and making friends from so many different areas. My grandparents eventually retired, sold the motel and we left the area. I miss it and try and go back when I can but I will say it is painful. Last year I went to see the area and to my surprise my childhood was basically flattened to a dirt lot....Oh the pain but they will remain deep in my heart. When I told my mom, who spent her time their as well as a child, she too was truly amazed and saddened. Thanks for listening

Chris,
First off, it's great to have you aboard!
Your passion for and love of the Wildwoods shines through in your writing. It is so great to have so many people here who truly care about the history and cultural spirit of the island.
It's people like you that help make the Wildwoods so special and unique.
Out of curiosity, which motels did your family own?

Thank you al for the kind words. (If memory serves me correctly) In the beginning they had a place in NW called the Terriwal (not spelled correctly) and then had the nautilus motel built. Sold that and purchased the Crest Motel & Apts on ocean and farragut rd next to the Town and country motel. The pic they have for demolished motel is in pink but my grandparents had it painted pink and purple. Back then you knew everyone and helped each other out. Their were bbq's by the pool and movie nights and of course all the conventions (vfw's, firemans) It was a blast. I told my mom of this site and she can't wait to see some of the photos. I'm sure she has alot of memories to share too.
