Let me introduce myself & family to the group. My name is Andy Yusko, Jr. w/ Kathy my wife and Ashley & Jennifer my two Daughters. We live in Lower Pottsgrove Township (East of Sanatoga/Pottstown, PA). I have health issues. I use a Cane & a Battery powered Skooter to get around. I have been going to the Wildwoods yearly since the mid 1980's regulary (Pottsgrove Marching Band used to go in the Elk's Parade) . I did visit one time with my Grandparents in the 70's sometime to help move a Vetran Police Officer (Charlie who lived on Montgomery Ave. near the Bay). I mainly visited Asbury Park (now town is a mess in my opinion) & Ocean Grove w/ my Grandparents because my Great Aunt, Elizabeth Plummer, a Retired School Teacher, lived in Ocean Grove.
Despite my health issues, I work P-T as a Board Operator/DJ at WPAZ here in Pottstown. I joined the Doo Wop Preservation League's message board to keep up on the changes in Wildwood. I hope Wildwood doesn't fade away like Asbury Park did. I love visiting Wildwood w/ my family in May & September for the Carshows (used to bring my Corvair, Lakewood Station Wagon to the show) and for two weeks in July/August. I like how everything is in walking distance in the Wildwoods. I stopped bringing my Wagon to the shows because of the fear of breaking down somewhere and no room to bring my scooter along however, I still like to see the Classic cars.
I am glad that there is a place like Wildwood, NJ to go to so that you can feel like a kid again and forget about your troubles. My family loves the Boardwalk. We have stayed in the past at The former Maple Leaf, Knoll's Motel, former 222 Juniper St. (Harvey Undercuffler) Apartments, and last year at the Marlboro Apartments (may be gone). There are too many changes too quick as far as Properties going to Condos go. In my opinion, I think the Condos are TOO EXPENSIVE to rent and most of them ARE NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE. The living area from what I see is on the Second Floor over Garages. My question is how is a person in my shoes suppose to get up to the Living Space since there is no Ramp or Elevator from what I can see? If they are going to rent to the Public, then the Condo owners should be ADA COMPLIANT!! This is going to hurt Wildwood's Tourism (I said enough on this for now I don't want to make enimies).
OH YEA! We also order from Mike's - Pizza & Sandwiches are great! I'll be watching the Message Board for GOOD NEWS from the Wildwoods and I am looking forward to the Summer season!
