I wasn’t sure until Friday whether or not I would be free to head down the shore for Memorial Weekend, but as soon as I found out that my schedule was clear, I wasted no time try to get a room booked in the Wildwoods.
I explored a few different options, but ultimately chose to return to the 24th Street Motel (and all-time favorite of my family and a true, underrated Doo Wop classic).
Anyone else heading down for the upcoming holiday weekend? If so, where are you staying?

US US US!!!! Don't know where we're staying yet. We'll be there from May 26th to June 2nd.
We are taking a day trip to check out OC MD/Rehoboth. We've never been there yet. Still don't know if we'll go from LI to MD first, or go LI to WW and go to OC MD the next day.
Any suggestions?

I usually go the week before and after Memorial Day weekend, then stay down for the summer - at least until after the September car show weekend if I can. Recent Memorial Day's haven't always been the nicest weekends down here from what I recall. Hopefully things will work out better for anyone coming down, up, or over to The Shore this Memorial Day.

Momto2, don't forget to check out the Haunted Mansion ride in Rehoboth on the boardwalk inside the amusement park building, and the Haunted House on the OC, MD boardwalk and the Pirate's Cove walk-through behind it. Also the fun houses. The Haunted House in OC, MD was built in 1962 by a man by the name of Bill Tracy from Cape May, NJ (he died in the early 70's) He did the Pirate's Cove, as well. Those dark rides are better than Wildwood's current ones. The OC, MD ones are the closest that you're going to get to the old Hunt's Pier dark rdes (Whacky Shack, Pirate Ship).

We wish we could. We have a family reunion in Maryland. We usually head down for the month of September. Also, a couple of day trips during the summer.

Hey Al, I'm glad your back ;D. I'm not going down the shore till July when i go to stone harbor for two weeks and then to my aunt's house in Wildwood for 1...My aunt used to run a boardinghouse in Wildwood called The Morans...if anyone remembers it please tell me, because I think she had it at least into the 1960s. I went down to Ocean City last weekend and stayed at a CONDO! because I was staying with my friends, but it was good and I saw many motels in Ocean City.

well all. Just got back from a fun filled wildwood day:) Hey Contessa-- were you working the dippin dots today? I saw a black haired woman at one stand.. It was hard to see all the hotels that were gone. My wife simply cound NOT believe how many are actually gone. The capt table was gone.. Still do not believe.. I yelled out the window at Al's hotel.. but he did not hear me I guess:) The 24th street hotel was very packed and a nice hotel too:) The boardwalk was packed.. The Macks was as good as ever. Groffs is not open til June 9th.. Little Italy was as good as last year too. The broccoli rabe is out of sight! And to be honest.. Some of the condos are not that bad looking. There are some which are designed well and are quite different then the rest.. As an Engineer I like to see this.. and that colors place down the crest right on the water looked really nice too. (can't remember the whole name lol) Seaport was closed tight The Rio looked very sad.. about to be demolished.. waiting its demise.. What was the roller coaster that was painted orange on the pier up north?? Was it new?? Bought 3 sweatshirts (hoodies) from a boardwalk store and the bill was $100 ow.. Wife wanted all of us to look like a family lol Overal we had a blast!! traffis was dead. No problem except for road construction in Rio grand on the way in.. BTW- where is this Acme everyone ia yapping about with uneven floors?? I did not see any in Rio Grand. Oh and there was something going on at the Grand in teh crest. Fire engines and emts all over the place and cops all over.. Wonder if they found a body inside?? LOL of the owner!
