Hi guys & girls,
Just a quick message to let everyone know that, yes, I’m still alive, and I very much miss having the opportunity to take part in the great daily discussion that goes on here (not to mention keeping in touch with many of my friends here).
As a few of you already know, I was recently offered an opportunity to advance my writing career. Unfortunately, with the increased workload (and travel) that I have taken on, I have not had as much free time as I had become accustomed to.
Hence, the main reason I have not been posting here regularly, as I had since the inception of this great forum a few months back. Of course, having a one-year old and a wife in grad school has only complicated matters, but I don’t mean to complain one bit. I just wanted to explain why I haven’t been around much lately.
I hope to post a lot more in the coming days, as my schedule looks to be clearing out for the next week or so. I am anxiously looking forward to Memorial Day weekend, which I will be spending with my family at the 24th Street Motel in North Wildwoods.
Also, this Friday (May 27th), I will finally be launching my Wildwoods website – Doo Wop Island (www.doowopisland.com). This is my first foray into the website world, so the site certainly won’t look as professional or anywhere near as polished as, say, the DWPL site, at least for now.
But, really, my concern is more about using the site as another way to both pay tribute and help get the word out about Doo Wop preservation and the Wildwoods in general. It should be an interesting little adventure, to say the least, and I invite everyone to check it out this Friday, and let me know what you think.
For now, I just wanted to give out a quick “hello” to all of my friends and just update you on what’s going on with me since I seemingly went AWOL.
Take care, everyone!
Yours in the Wildwoods,
Al Alven
