I just visited the main site to the Doo Wop Preservation League and up came a new window announcing a gathering for members of the Doo Wop Preservation League this coming Wednesday - June 29, 2005 at the Pink Cadillac diner (formerly Big Ernie's) from 5:30pm-7:30pm. It's short notice for me so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it, but I'll try. I've posted the link to the announement below: www.doowopusa.org/pop-memberreception.html

I guess we're members. They cashed the check? I'll try to get there on Wednesday? Please PM me if you can make it. re

Can I come even though I'm not a member?

I don't know - maybe e-mail the Preservation League or call the RSVP phone # and ask them there?
I'm going to try to make it - I called tonight to reserve my place, but told them I'd call again if I can't make it.

Just returned from the DWPL Membership Meeting. It was very nice to finally meet MMM, what a great guy. The DWPL will have a home next summer in the old Surfside, with a neon garden displaying all the old signs of the past that have been donated. You folks who are coming down need to check out the Pink Cadillac Diner, it's an ongoing work in progress with a wonderful doo wop feel. The owners are attempting to keep as much of the orginal work they've added wonderful murals.

Nice to meet you too! I think we had about 25 or so people, maybe 30, right re? I didn't get in the Diner until 6:30 - too much traffic coming from North Jersey. I forgot to take my Lava Lamp... I took the trolley tour afterwards, which was nice. Though only a few of us from the reception were on it, the trolley was full. The owner of the Pink Cadillac (formerly Big Ernie's) previously ran the Rio Coffee Shop. Hope he does well. The place looked fairly busy from the regular customers.

It would have been nice to have more notice of the get together. We were away and had no idea.

I had received an envelope from the Preservation League with an invitation to the gathering in the middle of June, but I never opened it until last Monday when I saw the notice on the main site. I must have forgotten about the letter, then when I saw the notice I first thought "why such short notice", then I realized that I had unopened mail from them. So, they actually did give me good notice - I just didn't read it until the last minute!

I wasn't aware this was going to happen. It's funny, I walked past that diner one night on my wildwood stay in late june and saw a lot of people hanging around outside, must have been the get together, wish i'd known...
