Does anyone know just how late into fall you can swim in the ocean and not have it be too cold to make you sick? Do the lifegaurds quit after labor day? I'm looking to make it down one more weekend soon, but I don't know if it's too late.

The lifeguards are gone. It's good that you ask. There have been a couple of drownings and close calls lately (after lifeguard hours and since the guards have left.) There are dangerous rip tides this time of year. Please consider this when you swim. It's not like when you swim in July/August. The currents are different and will surprise you. That said, September is the most beautiful time of year to be at the shore. You should come down...just be careful. (I hope I haven't scared you off.)
