At www.steel-pier.com I caught word of the closing of Steel Pier. Should we start a petition? I sent an email in, but we need help, email them here. Info@SteelPier.com

Aren't the people who brought us "Dinosaur Beach" the owners of the Steel Pier?

Yep, Steel Pier is the same owners, the Catanoso brothers. Dino Beach failed, and now Steel Pier will fail. The old AC looked like WW in it's heyday. The old Steel Pier sign looks like the same letters that were used for the Hunt's Pier logo. AC's amusement piers declined when the casinos came along in the late 70's.

The piers in AC were never as good as Wildwoods. The piers in AC were in ruins even before the casinos came!!!

I don't understand all the negativity here. Steel Pier wasn't nearly as good as a Wildwood pier but I think it was a nice little diversion. I mean, it is pretty much the only non-gaming attraction on that huge AC boardwalk. I always loved the Crazy Mouse and the Ferris wheel was always fun.
I heard that the owners of the park were looking at some land in Sea Isle City where they could build a new park, likely with rides that are currently on Steel Pier.

The ORIGINAL Steel Pier, back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, was really a wonderful area of fantastic entertainment; and for anyone born in 1970 or after, it's really a shame you will never see what the original Steel Pier was really like. In Atlantic City's heyday, you couldn't even move on the boardwalk, now I can't even stand to go near there because it makes me sick. Yes, Trump bought the Steel Pier, if that's what you want to call it. I'm sure he'll have big plans for it and if doesn't work out, he can always file for bankruptsy again. Because I grew up going to Wildwood and Atlantic City and now I can see how everything's changed; ESPECIALLY Atlantic City, it really upsets me. Atlantic City's beaches are filthy; any piers there are a disgrace. I honestly hope cacinos never decide to move into the Wildwood area, but if there's talk about it someday, it wouldn't surprise me.

The direction Wildwood is going in for the most part is great! There will never be casinos in Wildwood, Crazy; it is against state law! Only in Atlantic City. A certain local politician found this out the hard way several years ago when he paid a bunch of indians from the Delaware Tribe about $30,000 toward building a casino on the Cedar Avenue parking lot. The tribe got the money and guess what? No casino. Thom

Well, at least that's good news. We need more family oriented places to go to and Atlantic City isn't one of them. I don't want to sound stupid here, but since Atlantic City and Wildwood are in the same state, then what's the law? Did Atlantic City have to get a "special permit or something?

When the first casino came to AC, a NJ state law was enacted that said casinos can only be located in AC, no place else. I think there is a similar "older" law in Wildwood that says Bdwk casinos can only offer prizes - "no money," i may be wrong about that, though. I don't know. Thom
