I dont think casinos wil ever come to wildwood. I jope not. There has been talk about it over the years but I just cant see it happening in Wildwood. The direction Wildwood is going in for the most part is great! There will never be casinos in Wildwood, Crazy; it is against state law! Only in Atlantic City. A certain local politician found this out the hard way several years ago when he paid a bunch of indians from the Delaware Tribe about $30,000 toward building a casino on the Cedar Avenue parking lot. The tribe got the money and guess what? No casino. Thom I remember that well! re

The ORIGINAL Steel Pier, back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, was really a wonderful area of fantastic entertainment; and for anyone born in 1970 or after, it's really a shame you will never see what the original Steel Pier was really like. In Atlantic City's heyday, you couldn't even move on the boardwalk, now I can't even stand to go near there because it makes me sick. Yes, Trump bought the Steel Pier, if that's what you want to call it. I'm sure he'll have big plans for it and if doesn't work out, he can always file for bankruptsy again. Because I grew up going to Wildwood and Atlantic City and now I can see how everything's changed; ESPECIALLY Atlantic City, it really upsets me. Atlantic City's beaches are filthy; any piers there are a disgrace. I honestly hope cacinos never decide to move into the Wildwood area, but if there's talk about it someday, it wouldn't surprise me. Back in the late 60' early 70's I took dance lessons and danced on Steel Pier. I met Diana Ross and the Supremes and got their autographs. I remember the diving horse on the Pier. It used to be a nice place.

I played hookie in HS here in Wildwood, hopped on the NJT bus to AC and spent the day at the Steel Pier Ballroom watching Kenny Rogers and the First Edition sing "Ruby, don't take your love to town." I actually got to stand in the front row and lean on the stage. I don't remember the name of the girl in the group but she was really cute. Thom

I saw the 4 Seasons at the Steel Pier. I still have pictures of the diving bell and the diving horse. That pier went out so far in the water, you could hardly see the people walking on the boardwalk. I have alot of pictures to prove that, too. I'm pretty sure, but not 100% positive that the pier went out about a mile into the ocean. Still, Wildwood is going strong and I'm sure will continue to do so.

It's been forever since I have been to Steel Pier. The news is still disappointing though. Out with the old, in with the new. But what they are purposing is ridiculous. I suppose they want the upper class shoppers and less kids.

I think AC stinks. They don't even have any dark rides anymore. Now they might not even have anymore rides. Where are the kiddies going to go while their parents gamble? Enough with the park closings already, we're losing two others in NE Ohio and Myrtle Beach after this season. Not to mention that some Six Flags parks, one in Texas, and another in Denver will be demoed for "something else".

AC is not a family place so the kiddies shouldn't even be with while mom and dad gamble. I've only went to AC about 3 times since the early 70's and the whole place was like being in another world. I don't care if I ever go back there again. As far as ANY piers; are there any at all in AC?

Sorry, FlyinGN, is that what it was, 1/4 of a mile?
