Several weeks ago I saw an article in the AC Press that Wildwood had made a $200,000.00 bid to get the Extreme Games to come to town. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

no.... Do you think this will help or hurt? I think hurt. Its NOT a family event, the extreme sports thing. WW should be trying to attract FAMLIES not 21 year old extreme sports followers..

I also read that article in the AC Press, but guess it's not a sure thing. Imagine we would have seen a press release if it was a sure thing. re

Frank, here’s my personal take…<br> While I agree that the Extreme Games, as such, are not comprised of your typical “family”-type events, I cannot see how bringing the spectacle to the Wildwoods would hurt the resort in any way.
If a major event such as this can be attracted, it will do nothing but draw attention and press to the Wildwoods. It may even afford some opportunities for Doo Wop supporters such as us to help get the word out more on a grander scale.
In more concrete terms, however, it would bring more money into town, and could serve as a showcase of the island to many younger people who otherwise may have never heard of or visited the Wildwoods.
Another note on the “family” aspect, though… I actually attended some of the X-Games events in Philly a few summers back, and you would be surprised how many families – I’m talking entire families – were in attendance. It really amazed me.
If marketed right, I believe that the cultivation of an event such as this could have a tremendously positive impact on the Wildwoods. Absolute worst case scenario, the event would flop and would breeze in an out of town so quickly that it would soon become nothing but faded, harmless memory in short order.
