Whenever we get a significant snowfall here in Philly (as is happening right now, of course), it gets me curious as to what the Wildwoods must look like with the white stuff around.
I have never been fortunate (?) enough to be Down the Shore during or right after a snowstorm, but I have to wonder what the Boardwalk and all those great Doo Wop motels look like in such a situation.
It must look wonderful, yet bizarre (except for the people who live down there and are used to all weather conditions, naturally).
Has anyone on the board experienced a “Winter Wonderland” version of the Wildwoods?
If so, would you happen to have any pictures to share?
I remember seeing a pic of Hunt’s Pier and the adjacent beach with snow on the ground once (can’t remember where, but I’ll let everyone know if I find it), and it was quite a sight!
I would love to see some more such pics.

Al, I'll have to check, may have a few pictures of snow on the walk. Here's a website that has several webcams along the jersey coast. One is in the Crest. It sometimes takes a while to load. But it's get us that winter time fix we all need www.stripercam.com/

Al:
Check out the documentary BOARDWALK and there's a few nice scenes of the Wildwood boardwalk in the winter with snow...Kind of creepy but way different than the five months of action normally associated with the place!
In fact, most boardwalks along the Jersey Shore take on a creepy but oddly beautiful look and feel to them when the snow is falling and the winter winds whistle through the still piers, rides, arcades, and other empty buildings.

Funny you should mention BOARDWALK, Anthony...
I purchased the DVD on-line last week and in arrived on Friday. I had already planned to pop it in and watch it tonight.
Can't wait to check it out now, even more so than before!

I’ll have a full review up soon, Frank!
I want to collect my thoughts and do this documentary justice.
For now, I’ll just say that BOARDWALK was worth every penny of the money I paid for it, and then some.
It is a wonderful document, a tribute to the history, tradition and specialness (if that’s a word) of one of the most unique attractions in the world.
The great thing about this documentary is that it doesn’t play “by the book.” It’s a bit off the wall, a bit “out of left field,” a bit unstructured… all in a good way.
Just like Wildwood itself!
