I spent the past 4 days in Wildwood Crest. The weather was nothing less than perfect. Only rained when we left today. Last year I posted a huge photo thread full of motels and stuff. This time I mostly took scenic pictures, and discovered how beutiful the beach is in the early evening. The end of Wildwood Crest (towards the Reges) is a mess. There are huge condos going up everywhere. It's noisy, dirty, and the large size of the condos disrupts the open air feel tremendously. On the bright side, the Doo-Wop district, up to the Oceanview Motel still looks great. Some of the motels appear to have a fresh coat of paint and are well kept. The boardwalk at night was PACKED. Just enough room to move freely, but it was great. Now to the pictures. My digital camera only has 3.2 Mega Bytes so night shots aren't the best. Oh yeah, no little baby Jelly Fish, but there were some gigantic full sized adult ones. Some were over a foot in diameter. One hit my leg, fortunately, it didn't really hurt, but yuck Overall, this was the best vacation Iv'e had at Wildwood yet. I hope you enjoy my pictures. Be sure to click them again after the window pens to view them in their orignal size. (Al, if you need any pictures for that photo project, feel free to have any) The La Vita continues it's condo conversion. The neon sign still works, and was actually turned on last night. It's is fine except for 2 burnt out letters. There was a guy putting in bulbs in the "spaceship" recessed lights and they all work now as well. The Waikiki appears to have been repainted, the yellow looked real clean and bright. Unfortunately, it dosen't show in this crummy picture.

Nice work Doowopper, thanks! That was the most refreshing break from work I've had in a while. Took a bit of the edge off my Wildwood craving . I like that pink sunset shot you got (was that taken from the Reges?) and the arty shot of the beach with the "Newark" street marker, among others. Totally agree with you about early evening--the beauty of the Crest beach at that hour tickles the soul. About how far north do you have to go to get away from the construction noise and mess that you mentioned? Does it get bad right below the Oceanview? I haven't quite made a final decision about the location of my September visit. I would hate to repeat my experience of '03 at the Silver Beach (RIP), which at the time had some hulk going up across the street that drove me nuts with the noise. God, I hate the grinding, whining, rat-tat-tat of those big power tools--like a dentist visit on acid. Last thing you wanna hear on a well-earned, desperately needed, too-short vacation. Seems like yet another thumb-of-the-nose to loyal patrons of the old motels that this goes on in season. I wish the towns would require condos to be built between October and April, but I guess the summer weather is supposed to be more favorable to the construction process... if memory serves, that was the party line that the Crest police gave me when I called them to protest it. ;D

Thanks. I left the Reges last Sunday, when I guess you arrived. What room were you in - looks like the 4th or 5th floor?

The sunset pics were taken from the back balcony at the Reges. We were on the 6th. floor, in room 601.
The majority of the construction takes place below the Oceanview motel, as those condos are the big cement ones. I think most of the noise is around that area, and more noise down by the Pyramid. You can't hear any of it at the Reges.

Al my photos are your photos. Use whichever ones you want.
I'm trying to remember what was going on around the Singnapore. I know there is a place going up behind the Royal Hawaiin, which is across the street, but with the Singnapore being closer to the water at the front of the street I think you should be ok.

You guys are driving me NUTS! You keep talking about all the great photos in this thread but I SEE NO PHOTOS IN THIS THREAD AT ALL. Where are the photos everyone is talking about? All I'm getting are comments about the photos - but no photos. Who stole the photos? Thom
