Here is our trip report from this past weekend. First off let me say we had the BEST weather this weekend. And I loved the Shamilar.
FRIDAY-
Arrived in WW at 12:30pm. We were able to check into the Shamilar but not get into our room. So we headed to the beach. It was so nice to be on that soft sand. (No other beach in NJ has soft sand like that!) We went into the ocean it was beautiful - in the words of my Grandfather "like soup". No jellyfish either. Hung on the beach for a while.
Headed back to the Shalimar to get into our room. I really liked it and would recommend it anyone. We had 2 king size beds, and a nice private vanity area outside the bathroom. It was CLEAN. And since it has central air there is not a heavy musty/moldy smell to the place. In talking to our maid she told us how they clean everything when they have a checkout - including wiping down all furniture and headboards. She said they are treated nice so they want to do a good job.
OK back to the report. It was our anniversary so we headed to the 2 Mile Landing for a nice dinner - sooooooooooo yummy!
After that we walked around Cape May. Headed back to our room to change and take a walk on the boardwalk.
After that we headed back to the motel for some sleep.
SATURDAY-
We got up early and walked to the Wakiki for roof top breakfast - what a view! And then we did the Ride&Splash combo So we tried the new Ocean Oasis.
We had a great time and loved the Lazy River. I found the pool bar after that and it was a "hot springs" pool so it was nice and warm. We had 2 fruity drinks which cost us $17 - so I don't think anyone is going to get smashed and drown at those prices!
We had lunch on the boards - Curley's and Sams - sooooooooo good!! Then we head to the beach for the afternoon. Again beautiful. Showered and hung around the room for a while.
Headed out for dinner. We tried the Red Sky Cafe - it was great!
We thought it was better than any chain up here. We had great margaritas and chimichangas! Then onto the boards for the ride portion of our combo. We started with the SkyRide. I have never been on it and it was terrifying!!! I am not usually afraid of those (been on the one in Seaside lots of times) this was so freakin' high! We will never ever do it again. Hit most of the other rides on the 3 piers. Headed back to the room for some much need sleep.
SUNDAY
For breakfast we hit Britton's for buns - the smell in that place is like heaven! We headed to the beach for a while. I helped rescure a little lost boy. He couldn't have been more than 2 and was running along by himself. He got pretty far with no Mom in sight. So me and the women next us went and got him and brough him to the lifeguard. Finally his Mom & sister who didn't look upset at all (I think I would have been hysterical) came and got him. None of them spoke English. After the beach we had a quick lunch and tried out the pool which was nice and big.
We showered for the concert!!
POISON/CINDERELLA CONCERT
The Convention Center is small so no seat is a bad seat. We had floor seats in the back but never really stayed in them after the opening band. They were End Ever After - a little too "hard" for me. Then came Cinderella - they were good. (My husband loved them). We moved ourselves way up to the side. Then came Poison. They were SO GOOD!!!!!!! We were all the way up so close I could have had Brett Michaels sweat on me!! We got some great pictures I will post later on!! I swear some of the women there must have dragged out their clothes from 1985 since they just don't make stuff like that anymore! We waited after the concert outside to see if they would be coming out but never saw them. We stopped at Mack's after that and had some great pizza!! (Macks is the BEST ;D)
MONDAY
Depression Day We had to leave. So we packed up and headed out to Uncle Bills (my fav breakfast place - I even thought about buying a sweatshirt!) for breakfast. Great as usual. Then we hit Laura's fudge and headed home. Since I refused to go straight home we stopped in Smithville and Vineland to the Renault Winery which was really nice.
We had great time and I can't wait till next year!! ;D
