Well, even though I disagree with this whiny, melodramatic BS, I suppose these types of articles can have a collateral benefit by demonstrating to the city government what people want out of the resort. Since for every person that makes the effort to write an article, there is likely hundreds of people who feel the same way.

No matter where you go you're going to see change. If you enjoy an area, how can you just stop going. Nothing stays the same forever. Yet I get upset, too, when what I remembered is no longer there. Are these high corporations buying out the little guy? What's exactly happeneing here?

I think some change is good, else we would all still be listening to tube radios or watching black and white TV's, and using outhouses.
I've said before, I would like to preserve some of the culture of WW if it makes sense, but once a place has deteriorated beyond repair, or doesn't fit anymore because of other development around it, which is in the past and nothing can be done about it now, then probably best to just tear it down. Not to pick on any place in particular, but take the Eden Roc, for example. If I bought one of those $500K condos across the street because I was suckered into believing that the whole block would be condos, and now have to look at that flea bag every day, I wouldn't be happy.

But you have to feel bad for the person who is trying to compete against these type of buildings, too. I remember one time my son and I were in North Carolina and we were really tired so I just took an exit and picked a small motel; which wasn't the best but at the time we really didn't care. The woman there seemed over-eager when we walked in the door and I kind of felt bad because I knew she probably didn't get alot of people staying there.

Yeah, the guy does sound a little dramatic. I admit that much has been lost but I don't think the place is worth just an hour and a half.
