We rented four units out of eight to a group of firefighters this weekend. So far we have received two complaints Saturday from other owners and neighbors and three today. Why can’t these so called professionals act like it. They were throwing beer bottles over the balcony last night and a few of the neighbors had to clean up the glass today. We have already sent an e-mail to the chief of the department telling them they are not welcome next year. The heck with reduced rates, next year we will be taking a lager security deposit if we decide to rent to the firefighters. Because they are not "professionals". This weekend caters mostly to volunteer firemen, not paid professional firemen. I would bet that these guys were volunteers. I have relatives who were professional paid firemen, and there is a huge difference. Many of these volunteers outfits are just a big boys' club basically, 40 and 50 year old guys who still think they are teenagers.

New Jersey has very few paid fire departments and not all the volunteer fire departments act like that. They are professionals in every way. They go into burning buildings because they want to...not because they have to. It is a job for them after they put in a regular day of work. It takes a special breed of people to do this.

Apparently visitors cannot sit in chairs at the curbside to watch the cars cruising by anymore. New Jersey Ave was lined with people in their beach chairs watching the firemen's parade last weekend. I don't see how they could deny the same privilege to people who wanted to watch the cars... ?

Firemen, whether volunteer or not, should be able to enjoy some carefree time away, in a fine place such as The Wildwoods. Think about what they go thru at some of their calls. I know that they are the ones who volunteered, (or applied to work as a career f/f), themselves to do this, no one had forced them to. There is also alot of commraderie with these members, and they are usally there for each other and their families during a crisis or a time in need!! All inall, this past weekend was much more quieter, and low key for a convention.
