Yeah, They are still picking at me! They are going to do a walk thru this week. I will not be there! My lawyer will do the walk thru with the codes dept and fire marshal. It is sad that it has come to this. One minute I am sad and the next minute Im pissed! Thanks to all for the support! As Crippled Visions said I might have to make a phone call to the Gambinos. LOL

This haunted attraction is as safe as it could be. I have 7 fire exits with push out doors. I have 8 fire extinguishers that are the commercial type. They will put out any electrical, paper or gas fire. I am using emergency lighting in case we lose power. It is mazed out and ready for thrill seekers. Now if I can finish the detail in time I will be happy.

It sounds like they're trying to squeeze the fun out of this for you, like a tube of toothpaste. Don't let them get you down, Mike.

I can understand the fire marshal being concerned. Let's face it, if your haunt goes up in flames and a few kids die, the city will have his ass. He would surely lose his job. Fire spreads quick, even in permanent haunted attractions. Remember how quickly Castle Dracula burned down.

You are right Crippled. I agree 100%. His ass is on the line and I know it. I want to make it as safe as possible. My only complaint is that they ignored me for so long with no help. They are here to serve Us. We pay them. Right?

The castle fire was well planned out.

Why? Why was the castle fire planned out? Was it done on purpose? I thought it was an accident that they were only bored and broke in the castle for a thrill and used the lighters or matches to see their way and a curtain or robe caught fire non-intentionally and they ran because they were scared? Anyway they ruined one of the best haunted attractions on the East Coast. I didn't think the Nickels actually wanted it gone. They put their blood, sweat and tears into the castle back in '76, '77. Fred Mahana helped build it as well as retired Disney artists who probably helped build Disney's Haunted Mansions. Why would they want their hard work destroyed? Maybe the Waterpark guys wanted it gone and they "hired" those kids to burn it down, who knows. Is it coincidential that the castle fire happened after 9-11 or unrelated? It survived all those years even surviving the other Nickels fire without harm. Alot of my favorite dark rides burned down, Bucket O' Blood at Dorney Park, etc. Dorney Park's haunted houses now are about as safe as they can be with emergency exits, fire extinguishers, glow in the dark emergency exit signs and dots on the floor and plenty of security guards and a rules sign at the entrances.

I can understand the fraustration here but now a days you have to be EXTRA careful because of law suits. If a kid even tripped in one of these places; there would be some parent out there that would consider it unsafe. I don't think I could handle that responsibility. If you would post signs and state that you're not responsible for certain things, would that make a difference? or aren't you allowed to do that?

amazing how threads take on a life of their own. what started with me lamenting about the end of the season has now turned into a town meeting on a haunted house exhibit in Pottstown Pa.
Hope you can work it out, it sounds like a really nice thing you do every year.

If someone gets hurt then I am responsible. The state requires a min. of 300,000 in public liabiltiy insurance. Sometimes thats not even good enough! SAD

I guess that's why so many haunts fail, the owners can't afford the insurance and too much competition. There's Shocktoberfest in Reading (Sinking Spring), Field of Screams and Jason's Wood's near Lancaster. Check those out. Those look great from what I've seen on the brochures and websites.
