Thanks for the heads up, Cindy! Absolutely pathetic... this "person" is dilusional! I seriously doubt there was anything salvagable from the Zaberers fire that would be in this perfect condition (unless he repainted it). I have contacted eBay about his fraudulent auctions and if I see anyone bidding on his items, I send them a message. So far, no one else is believing that this is an authentic item. Buyer beware!!

I don't know the seller, so I'm not taking any sides here, but I would like to say that just maybe someone sold him that anchor recently but aquired it from before the fire. Customers for decades took souvenirs from Zaberers, and any other fine restaurant they go to. People swipe authentic period menus, ashtrays, silverwear with the restaurant's name on it, table linen, basically anything that could have said "Zaberers." What's keeping any of them from selling their souvenirs, and then for those souvenirs to turn up back on the market from time to time? I know this practice to be a fact because when I worked at the old Howard Johnsons Restaurant on the boardwalk when I was a kid, customers would have stolen the chairs if they could have gotten them through the door. People like souvenirs. They keep them for a period, and then maybe they decided to sell them. Or Zaberers employees could have swiped the anchor, if it IS from Zaberers. Now, about the seller. I believe he is an antique dealer in Brigantine with a legitimate storefront who also sells on eBay. I'm not sticking up for the guy, but according to the listing he has made almost 10,000 eBay sales with an almost perfect feedback rating. That's not possible, is it, if his customers were disatisfied. So, I don't know about the things he's selling but the bottom line with any purchase on eBay is don't buy impulsively, take your time, and do your homework on both the product and on the seller. 10,000 sales is an awful lot to have such a high feedback rating. Just a thought - Thom

This guy is a hack. I know for a fact that most of his stuff is fake. People give him positive scores because they really think the crap is authentic. You know what PT Barnum said...."A sucker is born every day."

There was a big auction at Zaberer's prior to the fire, most of the artifacts were sold then. Then came the suspicious fire, I believe still "unsolved".

ebay sucks. They just kicked me off for a two year old offense and being associated with suspended users. I emailed them and they say I'm indefinately suspended with no plans for reinstatement and that I need to resolve the problems in order to be considered for reinstatement. It's also against the rules to reregister under a new ID while suspended. If they find out you signed back up, they'll kick you off again.

You have quite a history with suspensions from internet-related material, eh, Robert?

Robert, you need to write a book.
Seriously, the Hollywood movie rights would make you millions.
