Spent a few hours Tuesday driving around the Wildwoods. We really took our time and went up and down a lot of streets - at least, the streets that weren't torn up Was pleasantly surprised to find Laura's Fudge open, brought home a new stash of fudge, sponge, and taffy. Had a good lunch at the Star Diner - what a great place! We never seemed to make it there in the summer, but I will make a point of going back. The atmosphere, food, and service were all top-notch. Noticed that the Ivanhoe's sign was missing - what's up with that? Don't think it's coming down, there were workmen putting a coat of white paint on the one building. The Buccaneer is still standing, it looks so sad. Saw what was left of the Grand - another week or so and that will be an empty lot. Something was going on at the Water's Edge, but couldn't really tell what. Looked like they were cleaning up debris from the parking lot, but couldn't tell what it was. There was a lot of it, though. Maybe they're finally replacing the rooftop sundeck? It was a little ratty in spots last time I was up there. Saw the Thunderbird condos - have to say, they are pretty nice looking. They have a little more character than some of the places, although they're not doo-wop. Coastal Colors was another place that appealed to me. All in all it was a nice day. ;D Just wish it hadn't been so windy - made it seem colder than it really was. Couldn't spend much time outside the car, I didn't really have a warm jacket.

What's going to happen to the Buccaneer? When will it be demoed or are there other plans for the building?

Hey, Beachrat - I remember that sailboat in one of your pictures. I was down the other end of the island when the boat reached the Crest. - No big deal, just a coincidence - Thom

Thom, when I saw your thread with pictures of the Grand, I figured I just missed you there. If you saw a red car driving slow, that was me ;D

Nice pics, thanks.
Agreed, many of the newer (post 2004) condos are pretty nice.
Re the Waters Edge, I heard that they are redoing/updating all of their rooms, perhaps the reason for all the debris?

Hmm, that could be. If they redo those rooms to the standard of their new wing, they will be quite nice. We've stayed in the new wing for the last 2 years and the rooms are wonderful.
