I had a few random conversations on aol with some people some time ago, most of them teens or 20's and some of them say they never have been to Wildwood at all. I suspect some people are drawn to other places like OC MD, OC NJ, Seaside, etc. I bet some have never even heard of Wildwood. I just met a lady in the supermarket with a Wildwood shirt on and she said she's been going to Wildwood for the past 20+ years! She remembered Castle Dracula and going through it once, and the old Hunt's Pier. So, there are people out there with years of Wildwood experience, and some with zero Wildwood experience. It all depends on what their interests are, and their travel/vacation preferences. Some people think of Wildwood as dirty and tacky, and the state of NJ in general as a dump, so they stay away. Also the medical waste washing up on the shore years ago didn't help much, either. What I fear is that newcomers will not realize what is going on with all that has been lost over the years like Ed Zaberer's, Hunt's Pier, Castle Dracula, the motels, and the only way they will learn of this stuff is either if they stumble upon the Boyer Museum, or one of the WW websites.

When and where was the medical waste incident? I was away from Wildwood for quite some time and must have missed that sad chapter.
You are quite right. Those of us who grew up over the past half century got to experience a Wildwood that I fear can only now be experienced through the Boyer Museum. At least that little grassroots museum had the wise sense to preserve so much memorabilia.

I remember when they had the medical waste problem. You were afraid to go to the beach for awhile because of needles coming up to shore. It was a scary time.

i dont remember those problems as i am only 21 some people like md, va, some parts of pa think nj is a dump but when i went to the va and md beaches they were gross there water is dirtttty yet when i bought my friends who hate nj to wildwood they loved it we have to change peoples views of nj in general trashy poor and ugly, infact nj is the richest state in the nation, we have cleaner waters on the entire east coast which shocks me but the water is actually looking blue we have to advertise more and keep wildwood up and coming thats why they need some chains as i said in an other discussion i know some of you dont want a chain but you have to adapt to the changing excpectation of vacationers or they will go somewhere else like fl or nc, sc etc...
