We have been coming to WW for 20 yrs. My wife and her family for 20 yrs before that. We are the avg family that works 51 wks a year and vacation for 1. This family tradition started in the 50s when Doo Wop was born. My wifes parents brought her and her brother and sister as children. those children now have children of their own and some of those children have children. In all just our little group brings 9 families to WW during each year, some times together, sometimes separate. This does not count the aunts, uncle, nephews, and nieces that also come to WW. We like to stay a week at a time but lately we have had to reduce it down to 5 days, and we drive 6-7 hours to get there so weekends would be silly. Condos, Resorts, Houses would not work for us because of the cost and if you put too many of us in the same room, bloodshed will follow, even though we love each other. My point after all this ramble is that if WW loses most of their family style Doo Wop motels there may be a lot less of the people coming to WW that made WW what it WAS.

Florida in the summer? No way...You couldn't pay me to spend a weekend in Florida during summer again. It's way too humid and the bugs get way too big! After 11:00 am it got to the point where leaving the hotel was more than just a miserable experience due to the unbearable heat and humidity. I guess I'm just a Jersey person. No offense but my question is can an average family afford Disney? If you can afford Disney you can probably afford Wildwood if you plan and make arrangements properly. Also, I might be wrong, but nine familes certainly does not sound to me like a little group. Sounds to me like some hardcore vacationers you have there! From what I remember Disney certainly was NOT cheap when my wife and I went there for 5-days in 2001. We spent more money there then we did during a week in Rome, Italy that very same year. The price of passes at Disney were way too much in my opinion and the place is too homogenized and contrived to the point where it seemed to get boring very fast. Give me a beach, a boardwalk, and a sausage sandwich at The Jersey Shore any summer day of the week! If my little son ever wants to see a big rodent I'll take him for a walk down near The Singapore or The Grand. In fact I'll point out the biggest rat he'll ever see in his life at The Grand - the owner - who can actually be seen driving a Rolls-Royce! No matter where you go anymore it's going to be expensive - especially now that there's talk about the price of a barrel of oil possibly exceeding the $75 mark by mid-summer.

I amaze myself. I work for Marriott and get great discounts pretty much anywhere (Hawaii next year!!). I could stay anywhere cheap but every year I choose to stay in Wildwood. Even though it is pricey to lodge there are so many things to do that are free or inexpensive. I think it is great that the Morey's don't charge admission on to the piers. That makes it very attractive to us. I do believe they need to lower the tram car fare. $3 each way is quite a bit of money and I know they get it. They need to create some type of discounted pass or lower the fare.
