Sad...that was the first place I was ever in the frist time I was in Wildwood...came for a day trip with a new boyfriend from Maryland in 1975...and the second thing we did was eat at the Wildwood Diner...first thing I did was go to the surf and touch the ocean. I had never seen it before(and I was 18, at the time) I married that guy...and later worked at the Diner for two weeks(early season and they way over hired...last hired first fired thing...ok...I went back to the Castle) I remember taking a group of 'Cyber Ladies' to the place for a lunch thing. I'm a memeber of a sort of cyber club of older ladies and we meet each year at someome's home town. ...and of course there were the late night, after the bars chow-downs!
Will miss this place.

I went to the WW diner for the first time 2 years ago, and the last time during this past September. I made sure I got business cards and pictures of it, even though I had no idea it was coming down. So sad. Food wasn't so hot, just the simple fact that it was the WIldwood Diner and was there forever. Can't be all that horrible if it was there for so long I guess.

Drove by the Wildwood Diner site, it certainly is sad to see it's demise. Too bad it couldn't have been move to another location...somewhere?

Perhaps somewhere someone's wheels are spinning about opening a new wildwood diner(hey, why not?)

Wheels are probably spinning, but wallets might not be open.

You mean I'm not going to be able to look at the Diner from the Tropicana when I'm down there next month? It is a shame. I haven't eaten in there in a while but when I did, the food was good.

I went by the Wildwood Diner today. The back kitchen area is already demolished. There were cranes throwing the insides all over the place. The front window seats are still intact. It was a sad sight to see.

I want to see the pictures, but at the same time I don't want to see them. Destruction is fascinating but it breaks my heart.

The WW diner, very sad. But seeing pictures of the Grand taking it's last breath will be like watching the ball drop on new years eve, break out the confetti!!

The Grand is an Ugly building.....if I'm not mistaken its not all that old, just not good eye candy I think it was built in the early 70's, that typical "functional" ugly 70's look. simply horrible. Like I said in a previous post a week or so ago, we should thank God that the condo movement did not start in the late 70's/early 80's, else we would be looking at a hundred mini-Grands. OC, MD, is full of places that were built around that time -- ugg-lly.

The Grand has all the elegance and flair of Three Rivers Stadium, the Vet and old Busch Stadium. It won't be much of a loss.

The Grand was only the Grand for about 20 or so years. It spent its beginning as a Holiday Inn and then a Quality Inn for a brief time after that. The Grand and the Peir 6600, 2 dumps. Get the TNT, the fireworks, Dic k Clark and whatever else is needed to celebrate these places departing from the earth.

I had no idea Wildwood was once home to another "chain" hotel. I thought the Days Inn was the one and only... ever.
Yeah, Pier 6600 is a pretty ugly structure as well.
