Have the Wildwoods ever had a minor league sports team (in any sport), to anyone’s knowledge?
I have always thought that a minor league baseball team would be really neat to see. Just the thought of a “Doo Wop” baseball park somewhere in the Wildwoods sounds really cool.
Of course, given the island’s nature as a vacation resort, I don’t know that a market (or a large enough fanbase) for such a thing could exist. The Atlantic City Surf have a decent little following, but that is a different situation.
At any rate, this is just a thought that passes in and out of my head every now and then…<br>

Al, Yes, a short lived minor league baseball team named the Wildwood Cardinals, owned by Scoop Taylor. He also owned the All Star Motel, in the Crest, with his partners Phillies Curt Simmons and Eagles Pete Retzlaff. Back in the mid 90's the NWW Mayor wanted to bring a team there, but now that old dump is going condos. Over off NWW Blvd.

What about the Aqua Motel - was that the same place (with a different name) as the All Star before the Aqua Beach was there?

I think I'll answer my own question - I took a look through an old Motel guide I have and found that the All Star was located at 5901 Atlantic Avenue, which would put it near the Satellite (or I should say where the Satellite was ).

Hmmm...
My searches continually turn up the same address for the Aqua Beach and the All-Star Motel – 5501 Ocean Ave.
Interestingly, a search for 5901 Atlantic Ave. revealed that that was the address for Hudson’s Restaurant a few years back. Of course, Hudson’s was located right next to the Satellite.
Hudson’s, which was formerly Schumann’s, was also known as the All-Star Restaurant at one time, wasn’t it? So, perhaps that is the actual place (not the motel) your search turned up, MMM?

The ad does list 5901 Atlantic Avenue, but as additional information to " Visit our SCHUMANN'S ALL-STAR RESTAURANT for all vacation meals and Ice Cream Specialties.
