Friends are booked to stay there Labor Day Week. We were thinking of meeting them for 2-3 nights. The reviews we have read are really bad on this place. We are not familiar with the area - is there a place next door that is better? We both have kids that are going to want to hang out together - so we need a hotel that is close. Any recommendations?

The Reges Resort is pretty close, just several blocks up. Certainly in walking distance. However, I would not be surprised if they have no vacancy for that busy week. Give them a call. I don't know if you can get a newly renovated room for just 3 nights, but try. The new rooms are fantastic. All rooms are very clean though. The Beau Rivage, which is next to the Reges is also very nice. I remember it had 3 Diamonds, not sure if it still dose, but it looks very well kept, just as well as the Reges. They probably have better prices as well.

Welcome Victor... How close do you really need to be? The Reges, two blocks away, is a terrific all-around place to stay as Doowopper mentioned (though pricey). But, be forewarned... check out this thread: dwpl.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=motels&action=display&thread=1154625958#1154625958There are three motels immediately south of the Reges--the Regal Plaza, the Grand and the Pier 6600. The Grand is set to be demolished some time after Labor Day, as noted in the thread linked above. Good thing too--I think most Wildwoods motels are worth trying to save, but not this nasty creature, which is so gross it was sued by the State of New Jersey back in '02--check it out... www.state.nj.us/lps/newsreleases2/pr20021217f.htmlAnyway, if that demolition should take place during Labor Day week it might not be too pleasant to be around. Hopefully the officials won't be so stupid as to permit that timing, but past precedent says they will. Anybody have an update on the Grand Bang plans?

Both the Reges and the Regal Plaza are 10 times better than the Pier 6600 but then again a Porta John is better then the Pier 6600. Can also check out the Beau Rivage and even the Pyramid.
