In addition to preserving original Doo Wop architecture, the Doo Wop Preservation League is a strong proponent of the phenomenon known as "Neo Doo Wop" - that is, new, 21st-century construction that borrows and incorporates the colorful, whimsical designs and forms of the 1950s-era architecture. Examples of this include the "Doo Wop Wawa" and Harley Davidson buildings on Rio Grande Avenue along with several new hotel and commercial projects currently in the works in the city of Wildwood.
On this board, you can share your thoughts on some of these buildings as well as new and future projects. Talk about preserving the "spirit" of Doo Wop for future generations and pitch your own ideas for making the Wildwoods a more "Doo Wop" kind of place for the 21st century!
(And feel free to take a cheap shot or two at some new, less-than-Doo-Wop buildings while you're at it...)
