Having just returned home from another long weekend in Wildwood, I’ll be happy to give you a few examples just off the top of my head. But first I would just like to say the City of Wildwood did an excellent job this past weekend. The Woodstock concert on Saturday was excellent and well attended. Same goes for the block party at Fox Park yesterday. Last night’s WWE event at the convention center again was fun and well attended. Wildwood keep up, the good work.
So here are a few observations that I have noticed in the past years. Have you notice the hundreds of Doo Wop era motels and buildings that have been replaced in the past few years with modern construction? How about the Doo Wop trolley tours that have been replaced by the Doo Wop yellow school bus tours due to LACK of customers. (Renting the trolleys was just not profitable). The Doo Wop weekend help in October (non prime time) that is only attended by a few thousand people. (Last night’s WWE event had a larger crowd), now what’s that tell you. What about the big announcement that was made at the concert on Saturday night that next year Wildwood will be hosting a three day Wildwood Woodstock event in July on the beach with between 40 and 50 bands (starting Friday night and going to Sunday), the key word here being Woodstock (70’s) not Doo Wop. How about the placement of the new Doo Wop museum? How many on this board can name the streets that border this location without looking it up? Fox Park is a nice park but lightly traveled by the majority of the people that visit Wildwood. Don’t forget where the Doo Wop Museums originally came from. If you recall Wildwood Crest sold it to Wildwood for $1.00 because they did not want it.
Fox park is bordered by Montgomery Avenue and Burk and Ocean and Atlantic.
The Surfside Restaurant wasn't sold because they didn't want it, it was to SAVE IT.
Sorry, but I don't quite understand the point of some of your musings. Are you for them or against them?
