Just a curious note, while trying to find a new place to stay in WW, since all my regulars are gone! I called one of the older style apartment houses just to check them out. I have been paying a total of 13% tax in WW for awhile but I was told that if I brought my own towels and sheets that the tax would be alot less? What will this do to the tax base in WW since thats the same thing you do at a condo, isn't it. The local residents would have to make up this loss of tax revenue, wouldn't they? I wonder if anyone has mention this to them when it comes to another new condo on every corner?

SirCaz, Here's the deal. The 13% motel/hotem tax is charged to guests. Private folks renting their property, pay a different once a year room tax. All motels charger you that tax, as far as I know.

Yes, but aren't the condos being rented by private owners so they can pay their mortgages?

Private owners, condo or private homes, rent to help defray the costs of their property. You would be hard pressed to pay a monthly mortgage payment, taxes, utilities, insurance, condo fees, sewer and water on what 8-10 weeks of rentals? Most of us home owners bought because we love the island and or a business investment. It seems real estate, especially here does much better than the stock market these days. For the record I don't own a condo, I own a duplex that's been our Family since the 50's.

As a side note, I'm here in NWW, arrived yesterday. Anyone heading down pm me, if you would like to meet.

Dear Wildre, I have no problem with property owners that are also there for WW. My point about the tax was that the fewer motels/hotels there are charging the 13% (due to condozation) the more the other property owners, businesses, and residents will have to make up. You don't think that the politicians of the 3 areas that make up the Wildwoods are going to lose that kind of yearly revenue, or will the yearly tax paid by the property owners cover it?
