I was just surfing around HGTV and found this link: www.hgtv.com/hgtv/pac_ctnt_988/text/0,,HGTV_22056_36517,00.html It's the "Restore America" and there are lots of great links that may help Wildwood.

I am reading the posts about the changes that have happened (and are happening) on Surf Avenue. It is truly a sad situation. I am totally depressed about the Lurae. We all share common reactions and feelings regarding the Doo Wop Motels. We post on the forum, take pictures, and reminisce, but can we as a group do anything to help?
Without owning the properties, I am not sure that the DWPL can do much to save and/or preserve the treasures of WW. However, has anyone actually looked into it? I know petitions have circulated, but what affect did they have?
This website is full of smart, and more importantly, passionate people. What are your thoughts? What research or information do you have regarding preservation? What about fundraising?

We all share common reactions and feelings regarding the Doo Wop Motels. We post on the forum, take pictures, and reminisce, but can we as a group do anything to help? Well, this isn't much but it proves that just possibly somebody, or some group, had a possitive effect on the Lurae recently. Remember all the talk in other threads about how horrible the Lurae looked as late as two weeks ago? Everyone was asking how could anyone let a property as classy as the Lurae go downhill so quickly, even though it is slated for demolition? Everyone really complained about all the "Demo Sale" graffiti spray painted all over the front of the motel. Well, on my daily drive-by yesterday, I noticed that all the graffiti had been completely painted over in white paint. I believe it's still waiting for demolition, unless they want to open it for one more season, I don't know. But apparently, maybe someone got to them and said something. Anyone know what happened? Well, I've had the idea of having dinners, maybe with entertainment, similar to what politicians do - charge a high figure per ticket as a donation, and hopefully collect enough to save a Motel, then restore it, etc. You'd have to sell enough tickets, and have multiple events...
