When I get older...l would like to...this is just a dream you know...open up like a Doo Wop Travel Center. It would be somewhere on the shore or in South Jersey. I would consit of a diner, motel, and drive in move theater. All featuring neon lights. I think it is sad that these three things are all dissapearing very fast in New Jersey. There is only one active drive in theatre...in Vineland, the motels are being demolished for condos down the shore, and many diners are getting in very bad condition. Just a dream...right now I only have 25 dollars...so I can't really do anything, lol.

Hopefully, by the time you have enough money to invest into something, I think that Wildwood is the best place in NJ to open up such a venue. In my opinion, Wildwood still has many places & buildings left that demonstrates Doo Wop from the 50's (the owners just have to hang in there for a while). In years to follow in my opinion / view on this, the "Condo" idea may fade away because the owners are not getting a good return on their investment (too high of Rental & Poor Demographic response on type of people they are attempting to draw) and sell out cheaply or even a Sheriff's sale due to not affording taxes. The Condos may come down before they fall down due to not being maintained and leave empty properties / lots again. Let's hope the Boardwalk still stays by that time. Doesn't hurt to dream I guess!

Well if you really put your mind to it and work hard that dream of yours may very well become a reality. I hope to eventually buy an old motel in Wildwood and fix it up. (Hopefully there are some left Anyway, if you want to do somthing there is nothing holding you back from doing it, you just have to be willing to put the effort into getting it.

Chuck, did you see the documentary on PBS a few weeks ago? It was all about roadside attractions and odd shaped buildings. Not necessarily Doo Wop, but old buildings that are landmarks.
There is a ketchup bottle water tower somewhere in the Midwest. It was going to be torn down, but the locals had a fund-raising event and saved it. Now, they have an annual ketchup festival. Interesting idea. That kind of thing would be right up your alley.
Also, you may like Clark DeLeon's book - Pennsylvania Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities & Other Offbeat Stuff. I believe there is also a NJ edition. Good luck!
