We just got back yesterday from Lancaster PA. Noticed a new diner on RT. 30. It's called the Lincoln Diner. Lots of glass and stainless. Also, on the sides of the building it had glittered glass fragments of all colors imbeded in it. Pretty cool.

Going way beyond NJ, there is Wisconsin Dells. Despite being located nowhere near an ocean, there are lots of mom and pop motels, many in the Wildwood style and many with nice neon signage. There are also multiple amusement parks (with a total of FIVE wood coasters), lots of go-karts and mini golf and water parks as far as the eye can see. Boat rides on the river, historic tours, loads of shopping... it's a really neat place if you're looking for a new place to vacation.

Speaking of Outside Wildwood, I was just in Las Vegas yesterday & found out that from the Frontier Hotel to Circus Circus will be knocked down to build a really great big Casino/Hotel Las Vegas is not my Favorite, but it is a shame, when you think about "really" how young our Country is, we keep tearing down, what I always call "Mom & Pop Americana" I know Vegas is Pretty Cheesy, but those buildings hold lots of Retro/Deco Architecture & basically adds to the Greed of the People with the Money! P.S in my mind.... there is really nowhere outside Wildwood! That's why it is so important to Preserve the Past... as they say on the Wildwood Days DVD " once it's gone.. it's gone forever!" Agree?

There are some neat places in Vegas, you just have to look.
Of course, I love Vegas because it is often tacky and over the top, just like Wildwood was after WWII.

Oh, yeah, and Wisconsin Dells has walk-through haunted houses in the old style. I found info about them on websites. It's probably a big tourist trap place like Niagara Falls. Lake George, NY, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, Wisconsin Dells, Gatlinburg, TN, Myrtle Beach, SC, Virginia Beach, and Salem, MA all have permanent walk-through haunted attractions. NJ has two - Haunted Manor at Seaside, and the Curse of the Mummy at Morey's. WW needs more walk-through live actor attractions. Castle Dracula was the best. I just got back from Niagara Falls two weeks ago and I was really scared in the haunted houses there. They have some called House of Frankenstein, Castle Dracula and Haunted House plus more. Most have live actors.

The Dells are a tourist trap, but so is Wildwood. It's a neat place to go, just a bit father for most of us

The falls are a big tourist trap, too. They get you for everything, not to mention that there are two taxes, GST and PST. GST is the Goods and Services Tax, which is Canada's national sales tax. PST is the provincial sales tax, which in Ontario is 8%. the GST is 7% which combined totals 15% tax on everything! You can apply for a refund of the tax if you're a visitor to Canada when you're returning home at a Duty Free shop before crossing the border into the US. About the haunted houses, they were like classic 70's horror, some had live actors but there were no long, drawn out speeches or guided tours like WW Castle Dracula. Once you paid and entered, you were on your own. The Castle Dracula at the falls was more like the second half of WW Castle Drac with dark hallways, live actors hiding and scenes behind bars. There's a small room when you enter the castle from the street where you pay. You enter by going up some steps and into the door. There are steps up and down inside. You exit into the same lobby room that you entered on the other side of the room. Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor plays inside the castle at a certain point. It also plays inside the Haunted House a half block down from the castle. House of Frankenstein is another excellent attraction that is two level and has live actors. There are a few others which are pitch black with live actors and are very scary. Do not enter if you are afraid of the dark! Most of the attractions take from 15-30 minutes each to go through. Overall, I liked Canada and Niagara. Lake George, NY is another place that I've been to that has classic style horror attractions like House of Frankenstein (another one but somewhat different), Dr. Morbid's Haunted House (guided tour and creepy atmosphere like WW Castle Drac) and Alien Encounter a museum and haunted house. Lake George is 50 miles north of Albany.

I tried Frank Picas pizza years ago. It was very simular to Santuccis. It was good. For diners you have to try the Mayfair diner in NE Philly. www.ronsaari.com/stockImages/diners/mayfairExt.phpRight on! I'm going over to the Mart tomorrow to get some [hour ride] I'm looking forward to it. Anyone have a favorite eats place in philly/south jersey/philly burbs please let me know. I like trying new places. The Preston Diner in Tinicum Township was my favorite breakfast place, a real 50's diner. But it closed in august and hasn't reopened since. Favorite pizza in the area would be Pica's, Upper Darby and best cheesesteak would be Jim's or Steve's Prince of Steaks in NE Philly.
