I have seen some 50/60's [doo wop] archeticture around outside of WW. On Baltimore Pike in Delaware County, PA there are some "A" Frame looking buildings, some of them are car dealerships. There are many cool buildings that look like they are from the 50's. Plus WW isn't the only city that is losing cool landmarks for new garabage, anyone remember the Bizarre of All Nations in Clifton Heights? Or the many movie theaters in Philly? Or the drive in's [shadeland ave, clifton, oak ave, collingdale, essington ave, philly] I've seen old wildwood looking buildings in Vineland, nj and other area's in NJ like Cherry Hill and Marlton/ Pennsauken [good soft pretzels in Pennsauken flea market] I really love WW, I was down there last fall and I really saw it as the unique and magical place it is. From top to bottom from bay to beach, wildwood is really the best of the best.

Right on! I'm going over to the Mart tomorrow to get some [hour ride] I'm looking forward to it.
Anyone have a favorite eats place in philly/south jersey/philly burbs please let me know. I like trying new places. The Preston Diner in Tinicum Township was my favorite breakfast place, a real 50's diner. But it closed in august and hasn't reopened since. Favorite pizza in the area would be Pica's, Upper Darby and best cheesesteak would be Jim's or Steve's Prince of Steaks in NE Philly.

Intersting thread, anti.
I was actually going to do a thread on "Doo Wop" style icons in Philadelphia and the surrounding area a while back, but I never finished it.
I'll have to go back and check out some of the examples I wrote down. I'll post them as soon as I can.
Incidentally, I live within walking distance of Steve's Prince of Steaks in NE Philly. I can smell the fried onions from my patio on certain nights!

How about Chinks steaks on Torresdale Ave? That's got a 50's wildwood cafe kind of feel to it. I guess Steve's and all the other one's kind of do too.

Anyone ever notice the "El Dorado" Motel on 47 on the way to WW? It looks like it belongs in WW.

I found a site about Seaside Heights motels, www.seasideheights.net/hotels.htm and most of them look like the old style motels, and most of them are motels, with swimming pools and all not condos. I don't believe there's any mass demolition or construction going on in Seaside. See, I was thinking about going to the beach this summer but not somewhere where there's construction/demolition going on so I was thinking of Seaside or Ocean City, MD (I like OC, MD's Bill Tracy dark ride and walk through) or even Myrtle Beach, SC they keep sending me hotel motel stuff in the mail lately about Myrtle Beach, some of their hotels look neat. Oh, yeah, all of those places have dark rides, too. We might go away late July or in August. I have to see what my mom wants to do. My other choice for a vacation spot would be Niagara Falls, because they have some neat haunted attractions but lots of change and construction going on there with hotels and stuff.
